PCR results - how quick?

Does anyone know how long PCR tests are coming back at the minute? We went to a walk in local centre. Thanks

@pommedeterre I feel your pain! I'm totally over them too! We seem to have visited our local walk in centre far too frequently! We're currently on 31 hours of waiting for latest test result. It's way longer than any other time.

Middle of last week it took 36 hours for DS1 positive result at a local testing centre.

Same place at the weekend and it took 13 hours for DS2 positive result.

Does anyone know if results are released in batches? All my previous PCR results have come through roughly on the hour.

I'm currently sat watching my email, willing negative results to arrive from first thing yesterday morning, so that I can get the kids into their uniforms and back to school!

It would be nice to know if I can have an hour off stressing and then start again at 10!

I think that there seem to be certain times when they can come through - 10pm is one. 3am is another one, so is 7am.

Just update you-all we’re in Cheshire very high rates. Tested yesterday at 9am result back at 1am this morning. Negative so my daughter has gone back to school as she’s feeling well and no symptoms.

That's great @R1234567! Pleased it was negative and an impressive turnaround too. We're STILL waiting here in the South East - now on 33 hours!! DS is desperate to get back to school and keeps asking me every half an hour if it's back yet!

Hope it comes through soon singing and that its the right result! Its agonising waiting for them!

15/16 hours for DS last week. Thankfully negative. Tested after school and results by 9am following day, back in school by first break

Liverpool- 2 days

South East 18 hours, but did have to drive to a test centre 20 miles away as all the nearest 4 were fully booked which isn't a great sign

Still waiting here - almost 35 hours. It definitely is torture and feeling envious of those who've had results back nice and quickly. We were literally there at our walk in centre as it opened yesterday and there was nobody else in sight. Ours was the first test in the box - and I'm now worrying it's got lost or I did something wrong when registering it (although have had plenty of practice!!)

North West England, tested at 10am Monday, result at 4am this morning.

Son’s test from 9.30am yesterday came back negative at 3.15am by email, text was 4 hours later (do they deliberately not send texts in the middle of the night?) Quickest result we’ve had at 18 hours

Within 24hours for us doing a home test

Mine were 21 hours (negative at 5am today :)) east mids

Finally got (negative) result back at 11pm last night (email no text) a wait of 39 hours!

Ours were 13/14 hours for a day 2 post holiday test.

In reality it was less than that because the place where we went to get the test said that the courier would pick up the swabs at around 5 pm and we'd get the results within about a day.

We had the tests done at lunchtime on Monday and they came through in the early hours of the morning. Both negative, so I don't know if positive/negative affects the speed of the results, but we got emails sent at about 1 am so the lab must be fully operational 24/7.

Got ours back at exactly 24 hours today. Both negative, phew.

Do positives come back quicker. My daughter and her friend had one done at the same place but my daughter had hers before her friend.
Her friend has come back positive and we have t heard a thing. Don’t know if it’s wishful thinking that’s it’s a negative.

I had one on Tuesday, it took 14 hours to come back. DS had one yesterday, still not back after 30 hours.

DH went to a walk in this week - 26 hours to report (south west).

We’re any of yours negative? I just find the positives are back quicker than the negative. But having a negative could get her back to school tomorrow instead of having another day off.

Appointment 1pm Monday, result 7am, Tuesday. I did tick the keyworker box though.
