Just did a terrible swab on dd

She has a cough. Just did the nose as no way we could effectively do the throat. She had asd.

I couldn't do the nose swab all in one go. Just had to do a couple seconds at a time and come out and in the nose again. Mainly because she kept thrashing her head about and I was there alone so didn't have Dp to help keep her arms down!

It also touched the skin on the bottom of her nose a couple times briefly. Does that matter?!

I think I did get a good swab but it was literally a couple seconds in, then out, then in. We did both nostrils. But I hope I went up far enough!

It should be ok. I had similar issue with my son, his results came back ok. 🤞🏻

I’m sure that is fine. My dc really really struggles with them - her latest pcr was more like 2 secs up a nostril, my hand, the car dashboard, a few tears, another second up a nostril and that still came back positive so was obviously enough for a sample they could analyse.

That or the car has Covid!

That’s very similar to what I did with my son, in and out a few times and didn’t do tonsil swab either, came back within 18 hours so no problems.

BillinaTheChickenQueen · 18/10/2021 14:15

Don’t worry it should still be fine.
Thanks for you. It’s shitty having to do these things to our dc

Thank you all! They said results within 12-24 hours so fingers crossed it'll be negative... she's barely coughed all day!

We had an inconclusive test result after a disastrous swab on our toddler. Repeat effort worked. I'll not be testing her again (she's done about 8). It was so traumatic and I don't believe we should be regularly testing young children.

If the control line comes up it's fine to take results as normal
