Had anyone continued to do LFT during a 10 day isolating for positive PCR?

I’m on isolation day 7 and have done a LfT every day since my positive one last Monday.

Monday was very faint, got darker on Tuesday, very dark by Thursday. Then started getting fainter until today, day 7, when I’m now testing negative.

Has anyone else followed a similar pattern?

I had a positive PCR following negative lateral flows and no real symptoms. I only did the PCR because of the Zoe app and a sore throat. I was so shocked, I did another PCR 2 days later and was negative. All my lateral flows have also been negative. I am still isolating, though someone at test and trace said I didn’t need to. I am not convinced I was ever positive.

Out of interest how quick did your positive lines show up? I know you are meant to read them after 30 min on my (old?style) kits. But do they show up before 30 min?

All my lines have showed within the first 5 minutes, even faint ones.

Within 2-5 minutes.

Thanks that's interesting

My LFt before positive PCR showed the test line positive before it even reached the control line.

But I thought the advice was to not do any LFT or PCR within 90 of positive PCR, because you can still show positive from that original infection? So if you have another +ve LFt you have to get another PCR and isolate again. Or are people just not reporting the results?

A LfT shouldn’t show positive again after the initial infection I don’t believe. I think it’s just a PCR that can dead old dead virus cells.

On the first positive we got distracted and forgot to look immediately. It was quite a shock to find it 30 mins or so later. Ds the. Did a second one and the line came up immediately, same time as the control line.

Oh, ok. Test and trace told me not to do any either type for 90 days.
Might LFT again in a bit then to see if I'm definitely negative now that I'm out of my 10 days.

@zaffa

So have i!! It's crazy, my LFT are really strong too - I have no idea what is going on but I have another PcR booked today. I'm on day 8 though, so even if I did have covid it may no longer be showing. I'm not in SW and I wasn't contacted as part of the issue, something is just not quite right here ....
Did you get your results back?

Another who has a positive PCR result (early last week, am on Day 9 today) but the two LFTs I did out it curiosity are negative as anything! One other household member tested positive on PCR, day before me, but I'm not lateral flowing him, he has LD and won't let me! Grin The other two are testing negative on LFT and PCR (doing one or the other every day, mostly LFTs but have done a couple of PCRs each as DS is at school as per government rules Hmm.)

I no longer place any credence in Lateral Flow Tests really!

(I don't want to be lectured about the waste of plastic and resources, I think we're doing the best we can within the rules to make sure we keep it contained. DS is wearing a mask at school all day, for one thing.)

The LFT aren’t as sensitive and are good at picking up an active injection. So you may have just got negative because of the timing of your test. I got positive on a LfT before my PCR, but by day 5 I was recording negative on LFT’s.

@mamatro yes, still negative! I called the doctor as my chest is so sore and they said to treat it as covid, but also sent antibiotics to a local pharmacy for my husband to collect (as I should isolate for ten days from my first positive LFT). It's just so very peculiar!

Maybe its this super cold or worth repeating test again.
