When did self-isolation rules change from 7 days to 10 days?

Am I remembering this incorrectly, or did the advice used to be you isolate for 7 days from onset of symptoms? When did it change to 10 days?

Incorrectly it used to be 14 then reduced to 10. I cant remember when it was though

Newchances · 16/10/2021 23:21

I think it was 14 days reduced to 10?

PurpleDaisies · 16/10/2021 23:22

It used to be 14 days and was shortened to 10 days. I can’t remember exactly when but I remember the app telling me incorrectly to isolate for too long based on the old 14 days.

JanglyBeads · 16/10/2021 23:23

Last autumn, about a year ago, 14 to 10. When they introduced self isolation payments iirc. 28 Sept comes to mind

Doyoumind · 16/10/2021 23:23

You are wrong, as PPs have pointed out.

It got changed in December. My son was due to be isolating for 14 days and because of this he was allowed out after 10
CactusFlowers · 16/10/2021 23:26

It was seven days in March 2020 for the person with symptoms. And 14 for contacts.

Went from 14 to 10 days in December 2020

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 16/10/2021 23:26

It was just before Christmas last year. Can't remember the exact date but DD started isolating under the old rule but then was free sooner due to the change.

antsinyourpanta · 16/10/2021 23:27

I thought it was 7 for the person infected and 14 for the rest of the household...and then changed to 10..but that was ages ago.

StillSadAboutTiffanyMitchell · 16/10/2021 23:28

Yes I do vaguely remember it was 7 for people with symptoms and 14 for contacts.
Then contacts reduced to 10 days and I'm not sure when the 7 for symptoms got increased to 10 days 🤔

dementedpixie · 16/10/2021 23:29

Ah was it 7 for those with covid and that changed to 10. And contacts went from 14 to 10?

Actually OP is right! In early March 2020 (pre lockdown and actually before schools closed) it was seven days. It then changed to 14 days in mid March I think. It then got downgraded to 10 days at the end of last year IIRC.

Gunpowder · 16/10/2021 23:32

Massive x post. Blush

GreenLunchBox · 16/10/2021 23:37
