Does Test and Trace put you off going for a PCR test?

I find the calls from Test and Trace very annoying, unnecessarily lengthy and inefficient and intrusive. I regret sending DD for a PCR and will think twice before doing another if it means no one else is put at risk. Anyone else?
I mean, it's just going through the motions isn't it? Seen as the government don't give a shit anyway.

Completely
I did mine online but since had 3 calls, one nearly an hour
Had to do dd's on the phone, also nearly an hour and lost the will to live when they asked me for the postcode for Nottingham city centre...

DH got symptoms and didn't even test. Just isolated for 10 days. Actually it's 12 as he's still too ill to go out!

FrangipaniBlue · 17/10/2021 08:39

DS tested positive on Monday, I had one phone call that took 20 minutes to go over things like where he's been in the preceding 7 days and who his close contacts were in the preceding 48hrs.

I haven't had another call since and the gentleman said I wouldn't get any more either.

To avoid the phone calls it's best to answer the questions on the link you get sent. One at the time of the test result and one two hours later.
The repeat calls about family are annoying. The national team just get given random numbers to call so can't link household. Local contact tracers can see households and will try to do them all together

You don't get that link for children. I have just had the call and it was terrible. His line kept distorting, he couldn't type, so needed me to spell each name, letter by letter, slowly enough so that he could find the letter on the keyboard. He kept asking me the surname for each of us, even though I said 'we all have the same surname'. He asked me where my DD may have got the virus, when I'd already told him she hadn't been anywhere other than school.

The system is set up so I have to do all of this again for DD2. I had them phoning for DD2 while I was on the line to them for DD3.

I've now been through it again for DH whose positive PCR result came through this morning. Did online which was easier. But me & DS are now getting close contact texts, shocking that 'the system' isn't joined up enough to know that DS already has covid & DH was a close contact of him a few days ago etc, really inefficient...

Lougle · 17/10/2021 12:08

I've had the second phone call. This chap could type and could understand that if I said we all have the same surname, then each time he asked, I'd say the same name! Much quicker.

I've just had the link to the form - I'd only been to work in the timeframe they asked about. They didn't seem to take into account my commute though. So not sure if I filled it in correctly. They've just taken the address of my office, not a phone number. And I'm pretty sure which colleague came in coughing over us all ("it's not Covid, just a cough" 😡) so that several of us have tested positive, but I wasn't asked for a name.

Wonder if I'll get phone calls ...

Tinysnickers · 17/10/2021 12:50

I got my first call from t+t this morning. On my last day of isolation. To check I was ok and say thank you for isolating. I was a bit Hmm, I mean what's the point checking if someone is OK on day 10 if you never bothered to check before that?

bhooks · 17/10/2021 12:59

No. It would be good if they'd actually contacted us at all, other than a text message after a week telling me to notify close contacts myself.

rose69 · 17/10/2021 12:59

Sorry Lougle, yes only over 18s get sent the link.

oakleydo · 18/10/2021 07:33

I have never had a positive test

Should a LFT ever be positive, ill not do the PCR

Did you get that separately to your Covid notification? I've just got a positive result but no link to a form. I'm hoping to avoid the phonecall!!
BatshitCrazyWoman · 19/10/2021 07:56

@Lougle yes I had the positive result, then a text with a link from T&T. Still no phone calls ...

I got my positive result yesterday at 9pm and got the contact form at 7:35 this morning.
