Has anyone else got this awful chesty cough?

I’ve had a fair few negative LFTs and a negative PCR. So I know it’s not covid.
But this chesty cough is horrific Sad

Yep, into my second week. 2 PCR and lord knows how many LFTs say not covid. I'd quite like it to do one, I hate feeling everyone's eyes on me when I cough.

Yep. Have the 'supercold' here too.

My entire DS' class have had it - apparently, it sounded like a hospital in the classroom a fortnight ago.

I've so far been reduced to a whisper by laryngitis, and now am coughing up massive quantities of phlegm. As another poster wrote, the volume of phlegm puts a slug to shame. Both my DS have a hacking cough. My husband fainted on Sunday morning, slept most of Sunday, and is now coughing up tides of phlegm as well.

We've had it for nearly three weeks now with no sign of improvement.

I just had it last week, but luckily only one bad night of coughing all night long after a couple of days of a nasty sore throat. Now just a standard runny nose. Neg PCR and LFTs, but was sure it was just a cold anyway as when I had covid last year it was just a headache.

Yes, I have a horrendous cough and tested covid positive at the weekend

Littlebrownhare · 11/10/2021 11:26

@Tiredout123 how long after symptoms started did you test covid positive? Mine started on Tuesday and I did a PCR test on Friday. Tested negative.

Only started coughing the day before I got tested. But had other symptoms for a few days before that. Eg sinuses, slight fatigue, weird pain on my head. All very mild. The cough has been the worst part. And taste and smell went a few days after cough started

hollyivysaurus · 11/10/2021 14:26

Yes, I feel horrendous and my cough sounds awful. I've done multiple LFT's that were negative and a negative PCR - whatever it is, it's not covid, but it's vile!

Yup 5 out of the 6 people have it in my house. Been just over a week and doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Ds3 also vomited from coughing so much but ds1 seems to have been hit the worst - we almost had to call an ambulance because he had a 20min coughing fit and was struggling to breath properly. Fortunately it calmed down and we just went to urgent gp instead.
It’s horrible though. All lft and pcr negative though, not that o have much faith in the testing system with this news of positive lft/negative pcr at the moment

My toddler DS started with this a week and a bit ago, then seemed to get better (just a cough initially) but now the cough is back with a vengeance and he vomited earlier because he was coughing so hard. If I don't see any improvement in the cough tomorrow I'm phoning the GP friday morning as I think he might need antibiotics. The weird thing is he seems totally fine apart from the cough - it sound so wet and gunky but I think it's worse because he doesn't know how to cough it up/blow his nose.
DH and I are now coming down with it, all lateral flows negative but I'm thinking of ordering PCRs just to be on the safe side. I feel godawful. Is this what a cold is generally like?! Have I just forgotten?
