If you tested positive, how long until symptoms began?

I'm just curious if you tested positive after doing a test because of someone being positive in your home, or through work, how long before symptoms started for you, if they did?

I can't find any data on this. My dh was exposed on the 30th September but has tested negative on an lft everyday since.

I'm just wanting to get a feel if we're out the woods yet. Apparently 87.5% of people have symptoms by day 10 but I'd imagine these people would have tested positive before that point because the virus would have been detectable before symptoms.

Dh is on day 8 after testing positive and hasn’t had any symptoms

My dd did a positive lateral flow test the day before her symptoms started. LTFs were negative the day before that. Her pcr test was on the same day as symptoms began.

I did daily LTFs both before and after symptoms started/pcr was taken. All negative, even when I definitely had covid. Symptoms started on the same day as my pcr. (Had tried to do another pcr 2 days earlier but it was inconclusive so hard to say if I would have been positive at that time.)

In most cases that we know of, it seems to take around 2-5: days from exposure before people go on to test positive/ develop symptoms but of course, there will always be outliers. Hopefully you're in the clear, but please don't rely on the lateral flow tests as they aren't always accurate.

Fingers crossed he's stays that way @Passthecake30

He's had 2 pcrs in the 10 days, the second yesterday. Hopefully his vaccine has done it's job. The person he was exposed to became ill the next day so I think he would have been quite contagious on the Thursday

Ds2 tested positive on the Saturday. He had no symptoms at the time and we only tested because his brother was positive on the Friday. He then developed symptoms on the Wednesday. And was quite sick for several days

Symptoms started first. I felt achy all over, that was my only symptom. Did a LFT - negative. Waited a couple of days before doing another test (meanwhile had more symptoms emerge - runny nose, sneezing, slight cough), then tested positive.

My first test last Sunday morning was a crystal clear negative, no symptoms, felt absolutely fine. By Sunday evening I became unwell, done another test and it was positive straight away.

I went for a PCR after exposure at work, it was positive. My symptoms started 2 days after the positive test.

Ds started with it on Monday so we all did pcrs on Tuesday, he was positive we were negative.
I started with a scratchy throat on Wednesday, was horrific on Thursday, went for PCR Friday and tested positive.
So in our case we were about 3 days transmission period but testing negative in that time.

I got a positive PCR and never showed any symptoms. Got one because OH had a fever and it was going around school. All 3 of us had a positive only OH had any symptoms.
You may not have any at all.

Dd is 6 days past positive test and no symptoms yet.
