I feel awful.

Started off with a blocked nose, soon became chills and sinus pain. Now a chesty cough has developed and I’m losing my voice. I feel weak and tired.
I woke up in a pool of sweat last night.
I walked 2 miles today and I was ok during, but when I got home I felt so exhausted and achy, my throat is now sore too and my nose is constantly running.
I feel spaced out and fuzzy headed.

I haven’t lost my sense of smell or taste and my oxygen levels are 98%, occasionally dropping to 97%.

I honestly thought I must have covid, but apparently not. Had my negative result this morning.

My symptoms started on Tuesday. So I’m 4 days in and I thought I’d be feeling better by now.

Why can't it just be the flu or a bad cold?

HumunaHey · 09/10/2021 17:45

Yeah, you probably have flu.

gamerchick · 09/10/2021 17:47

There are other lurgys going around atm.

2boysand1princess · 09/10/2021 19:00

What days of symptoms starting, did you test? My sister tested positive when she had the mildest of headaches. It was an lft. By day 4 it was already negative for her.
She tests twice a week for work.

BlanketPiggy · 09/10/2021 19:05

There is a really awful cold thing going round that sounds very similar.

Peanut0583 · 09/10/2021 19:05

As a family of 4 we’ve had positive LFTs all week, first lot of PCRs from a walk in testing site all negative. We have symptoms and yesterday lost my smell. I trusted my instinct and ordered some home PCR tests and received results back today - we all have covid! Absolutely awful that we could have been back at school/work. Pls order a home test as this seems to be a known issue atm, a lot of people reporting the same but have a positive when they do a home postal PCR. Get well soon x

Peanut0583 · 09/10/2021 19:06

Sorry - read this as your LFTs were positive! 😅

BlanketPiggy · 09/10/2021 19:06

I had a really painful cough but tests were all negative. Even did 2 PCRs as I developed a temperature.

Suzi888 · 09/10/2021 19:07

There’s a very bad flu going around and it’s affected people worse than covid!

onelittlefrog · 09/10/2021 19:10

A lot of people are ill at the moment with general winter colds/ bugs.

If you've had a negative PCR, assuming you did the test properly it's not Covid.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 09/10/2021 19:12

@Suzi888

There was something about that in the papers yesterday or today. It seems that people have forgotten that other bugs and viruses are available and predicted to be back with a vengeance this year

Of course if you are in the SW it could be the testing issue they are trying to find an explanation for.

MarshaBradyo · 09/10/2021 19:12

There’s a lot of this around atm

BlanketPiggy · 09/10/2021 19:14

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair what's the testing issue? Is there something wrong with the testing?

ChocAuVin · 09/10/2021 19:21

I had an absolute killer of a cold about two weeks ago; could not believe that I didn’t have Covid. Temperature, cough, chills. Felt dreadful.

Even lost my sense of smell and taste very briefly.

Frequent LFTs and PCR (I didn’t trust the LFTs!) all negative. I can only conclude it was an absolute stinker of a cold!

ChocAuVin · 09/10/2021 19:22

… although, I am in the SW, and did not know there was an issue with testing Shock

GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 09/10/2021 19:26

Testing issues

TheGrumpyGoat · 09/10/2021 19:29

Sounds like a bad cold. My whole family have had it too. All Covid negative.

Kummerspeck · 09/10/2021 19:29

I have exactly those same symptoms and all my LFT tests for work are negative and a PCR, which I took because my sense of smell and taste went, was negative too.
Others at work have it too, all negative so we think it is just a heavy cold. Others have had similar and it has lasted about 2 weeks

BlanketPiggy · 09/10/2021 19:30

@GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr

Thank you

I'm nowhere near the SW but I've read a lot of posts about it on here and in the media in general

BlanketPiggy · 09/10/2021 19:33

I'm SW too and now slightly concerned as I've been out and about reassured by my negative PCR test.

Mindymomo · 10/10/2021 07:42

They are asking people with colds and flu to isolate as if they had covid. My adult son had a really bad cold a couple of weeks ago, he felt awful and couldn’t leave his bed for 5 days. He’s since had a blood test as he rang the doctors and it’s come back that he’s low on vitamin D, so is now taking supplements.
