Does this sound like I’ve got it?

Going for a PCR test tomorrow morning but my main symptoms are a very runny nose, a slight sore throat, ear pain on and off and a bit of a
mucousy cough now too. Feels like it’s in my throat. Sinus pain and pressure on and off too.

I haven’t lost my taste or smell and my appetite is fine too.

Could be any virus. Only PCR will confirm. Hope you feel better soon.

PricklesTheHedgehog · 07/10/2021 23:22

Sounds like it could be it. Hope you feel a lot better soon. Thanks

HealthAnxietyWorry · 07/10/2021 23:28

These were my exact same symptoms and I went for a PCR, results back today and I was negative. It’s more than likely this ‘super cold’ going round but I’d probably still go and get tested just in case 😀

P0gM0Th0in · 07/10/2021 23:30

I had that. Negative PCR. It was the worst cold in the world though; I felt awful for over a week and I’m only just back to work. I was actually surprised when the PCR was negative! It’s definitely worth checking though.

BanditoShipman · 07/10/2021 23:45

Sounds similar to how my (bloody horrific) cold started, in week 2 now and still feel bad but all LFTs and PCRs are negative, think there is a horrible bug going round.

Dancingmuppet73 · 07/10/2021 23:48

They were my first symptoms almost exactly especially the runny nose & slight sore throat, had a positive PCR last week. I didn't lose my sense of taste or smell until about 4 days after the PCR came back positive!

Dancingmuppet73 · 07/10/2021 23:48

Oh and I didn't lose my appetite either

JanglyBeads · 07/10/2021 23:55

Health authorities currently investigating why lots are getting symptoms plus positive LFT, then negative PCR. Advice is to treat as Covid and isolate if possible.

I know you don’t mention LFT though.

Lots of people died from flu pre COVID anyway so just because it's not COVID doesn't mean you should go out into the community and infect people. Should stay home when symptomatic regardless.
Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/10/2021 06:46

Possibly. My symptoms started off as blocked nose, phlegm and sneezing. I did lose my smell and taste shortly after. Could just be a cold but always best to get tested.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/10/2021 06:47

@Shelddd some of us can't afford to stay home if we just have a cold and it's not Covid.

Shelddd · 08/10/2021 18:00
@Shelddd some of us can't afford to stay home if we just have a cold and it's not Covid.
But you wouldn't have to stay home if you just stayed home. The reason you get colds so often is because people don't stay home. If you and others stayed home when they're sick you'd probably never get sick. Everything would die out.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/10/2021 18:06

@Shelddd great, and are you going to pay my wages while I'm at home? Until the government enforces full pay when people are sick, instead of a measly £70 a week sick pay, people have to go out to work.

Snowpatrolling · 08/10/2021 18:21

Me and my friend had those exact same symptoms
She tested positive
I tested negative!
Anyone’s guess! 😂

Sunshinegirl82 · 08/10/2021 19:51

Of course things wouldn't die out! Our immune systems would take a battering though. Noro is up 40% on an average year and a very bad flu year is expected as a result of social distancing and lockdowns last winter.

Honestly, we have co-existed with viruses since for centuries and we will carry on doing so, probably for as long as the human race exists.

I’m just coming out the end of this after feeling like crap for a week. Started with runny nose, slight sore throat and a general exhaustion, spaced out heady feeling.

I had spiking temperature, racing pulse, very odd, strange disoriented feeling. Head felt like it was heavy and congested but the overwhelming feeling was that my skin / insides felt weird, shaky and strange.

No continuous fever or lack of appetite, I felt sick unless I was mainlining stodgy carbs.

My head has finally cleared this evening and I’m hoping I’ll have a decent sleep tonight.

Daily LFT negative, PCR negative.

TheGrumpyGoat · 08/10/2021 20:06

My whole family have just had very similar symptoms. Like a very nasty cold… felt far worse than I did when I had known Covid last year!
All PCR negative.

Athenajm80 · 08/10/2021 20:14

Another one here feeling like crap - headache, sore throat, losing my voice, achy and kind of spaced out feeling at times, and absolutely exhausted after doing anything. Negative PCR though. I wonder if it is a particularly bad cold we're all getting, or does it seem very bad cause we haven't had colds for a long time and so have forgotten how crappy a cold can make you feel.

Those are my exact symptoms - PCR negative. LFT negative, but i keep worrying if those are false negatives.
