How did you find out what variant you had?

Just that really .. on day 5 and feeling slightly better .. had none of 3 main symptoms that they tell you to look for .. just wondered if any of you that have had covid found out what variant and how? I've got an antibodies test arriving in a few days

I believe at the moment you can be fairly certain that you have the Delta variant.

Last Christmas you can be fairly certain that you had the Alpha variant.

During the initial lockdown you can be fairly certain that it was the ‘original’ virus.

They randomly select samples for genetic sequencing. So, I believe the only way you can be 100% certain, is if they select your sample in the lab and then contact you to tell you.

I don’t believe you can put yourself forward for this/ pay private.

It's virtually 100% Delta here in the UK.

I think it's safe to assume you have Delta now, it's pretty much the only strain going round.
