Confused about what counts as symptoms!

I’ve had a headache on and off since Monday. Now woken up feeling a bit of a chesty cough (and a soreish throat). Not persistent though. Don’t feel hot but do feel a bit unwell. Managed a 8km run yesterday so I’m not properly ill! Three negative lateral flows this week.

These aren’t official symptoms but I know delta is presenting differently.

I’m a teacher. Do I need to get a PCR? If I go on the official symptoms no but people seem to be ignoring them now. Don’t want to miss a teaching day if I can help it. (We wear backs and socially distance here just in case anyone has a go at me!)
@AFuturisticalSound I don’t really use painkillers so no hierarchy! I’ve just never had a headache not relieved by a paracetamol before.
Wow, lucky you Smile

In that case really is worth trying something stronger, you may find it relieves your symptoms

I had a very intense headache for about a week before I got covid, every day it hit me as I opened my eyes in the morning, on about the 7th day of headaches I tested just to rule covid out before I phoned the dr and it was positive and then all the usual symptoms hit me the next couple of days. It's worth getting tested just to rule it out, I just did a LFT though.

Revengeofthepangolins · 24/09/2021 08:45

Yep, classic symptoms not much help at the moment.

doorornottodoor · 24/09/2021 09:31

Well I’m tested so I’ll wait for the results now. They said about 8pm today hopefully.

@Thatsplentyjack

I dont know why they are still pushing the "only test if you have one of the 3 symptoms", everyone knows that it can present in countless different ways. Seems really stupid to me. I would go get a test OP.
It's ridiculous and dangerous.

My first symtoms were headache, fatigue then cold type symptoms of sneezing and sniffles.

Margo34 · 24/09/2021 21:30

@doorornottodoor have you had your results yet? Fingers crossed 😬

doorornottodoor · 24/09/2021 21:51

@Margo34 not yet!!!

I only tested on 3rd consecutive day of headache because I read that many people with Delta start with headache. I got a positive lft followed by a positive pcr.

doorornottodoor · 24/09/2021 22:12

Negative!!!! Phew 😮‍💨

Hopefully that’s it as I’ve had symptoms (headache) on and off for 5 days. Was panicking as we’re supposed to be flying for half term in 3 weeks

@doorornottodoor

Negative!!!! Phew 😮‍💨
💪👌
JanglyBeads · 25/09/2021 11:51

If tou’d Have been positive that wouldn’t have prevented you from flying in three weeks? Unless you were very ill.

doorornottodoor · 25/09/2021 12:00

@JanglyBeads yes but where we are going needs a PCR even if you’re vaccinated and I was concerned I might still test positive.

Well done op!
That's a relief but remember even pcr can be negative if not enough virus to test

I have don't understand the symptoms at all, my dd has had a headache and felt sick nothing else.

We were overly cautious and tested and it was +.
