Children social distancing

Are your children still social distancing?
My friend has asked for a playdate but still makes her 6 year old social distance. Just wondered if others are.

Er, no. Don't think I ever did make him social distance.

Scarby9 · 21/09/2021 19:57

Is your friend's child at school, OP?
Does she know what it is like in schools now?
Other than open windows and doors, it is as if there is no pandemic. 100% back to normal in most primary schools I have been in so far this term. No social distancing at all.

I’d love to socially distance from my one year old, I might get the odd week off having a cold! Sadly she won’t hear of it.

I made attempts during the first lockdown but quickly came to the conclusion that it’s virtually impossible and quite damaging for children.

My five year old went to a class softplay party on Saturday. All back to normal here .

I assume your friend is homeschooling?? Because they really aren't social distancing in school!

They have only just started school (that's another story!)

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers

I teach in an infant school. Children this age are incapable of social distancing, it is unnatural and frankly damaging to try to enforce it.
I agree it's really damaging, but unfortunately my friend can't see it that way

@Silverswirl

What on Earth is going on with MN these days and mental covid posts? No children do not social distance and never have!
Some really people do seem to be really rather psychologically damaged by Covid... Unfortunately, it doesn't really surprise me, as even before Covid, there were a lot of people with health anxiety posting about all sorts of neurotic behaviour.
Warhertisuff · 21/09/2021 22:22

Frankly, the best thing that could happen to them is for them to all get Covid...

She's going to have a rude awakening in that case

Your friend has issues. Her poor kid.
