Has any one only had severe gastric symptoms and not much else?

Ive been bed bound for 4 days now. Awful cramps and diarrhoea. I have only eaten a few rich tea biscuits. My head hurts a lot but I think that may be due to dehydration.

Ive ordered a home testing kit, I dont think its covid but after googling I feel I need to check.

I feel rotten

Sorry that you're feeling unwell but wow, I can't believe people actually think covid is responsible for every sniffle, headache or any other symptom Hmm

Utter madness Grin

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

I have a friend who basically had gastric Covid, along with severe headaches. He was very ill at home for some weeks. Didn't test positive though, possibly because there wasn't a respiratory involvement. However his GP diagnosed Covid in the end as he'd had close contact with a confirmed Covid case.

Whyevencare - it has been widely reported that the Delta variant presents differently. In particular ‘sniffles’ are very much a symptom and gastric issues are also common.

Not sure how anybody can have missed this but they clearly have - I’m currently off work with Covid after a colleague came to work with ‘just a cold’. They were sent home and told to test, but not until they had been in work for a couple of hours.....long enough for several more of us to be infected as, surprise surprise, they had Covid.

@Whyevencare

I Do agree with you. I’m
Fairly sure it’s gastroenteritis or food poisoning but I’ve not been sick once and usually I would and it passes after a day or so.

I started googling on some legit sites and it seems it’s possible.
My dd has gone back to college where it’s rife.

I know someone who had what she thought was a terrible tummy bug and it was only on the advice from her carer that she got tested as a precaution. She did in fact test positive.. no high temp, cough or loss of sense and smell so you can never be too careful. She was poorly for 7 days.
Hope you feel better soon Daffodil

I was hospitalised twice with covid gastroenteritis. It's a thing.

Or maybe he didn't test positive because he had a stomach bug and not Covid? Honestly what is the world coming to? Must be Covid even without a positive test for Christ sake.

I definitely had covid with gastric symptoms. HTH.

OnTheNatureOfDaylight · 21/09/2021 17:56

@Piggywaspushed
That must have been awful. I feel pretty rank but to need hospital?

I am struggling to eat anything so I’m exhausted.

Did you have other Covid symptoms?

I had a cough for about 5 hours.

Nothing else!

Tbh, it costs nothing to test so I think you are right to : you're at home anyway!

Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2021 19:37

Oh, and on about Day 8, I lost sense of smell.

workwoes123 · 21/09/2021 19:52

I had Covid a year ago. No fever, no cough. Lots of gastric upset though, plus a sore head and throat. I eventually lost my sense of taste / smell but it was over a week in.

So it's possible.

OnTheNatureOfDaylight · 21/09/2021 20:05

Thanks. I do have a cracking headache but I’m thinking that’s dehydration.
I can still taste the rehydration sachets

I've currently got covid and whilst it started with cold like symptoms now one of the worst symptoms is nausea. It reminds me of when I was a kid and I would occasionally get migraines with sickness only this time I'm not being sick. I haven't felt so awful for years if ever.
