Antibody Test Results

Just wondering if anyone has done an antibody test recently (the one ordered through gov.uk) and how long your results took?

I did one about six months ago and I’m sure the result came back in 2 days. This time it’s been 5 days and nothing back yet….

@MrsFezziwig

I’m in a research study so probably not what you are interested in. Last November I had an antibody test where you have a blood sample taken at a clinic - negative. This was repeated in April - positive for antibodies from both the vaccine (one dose) and the virus (which came as a massive surprise to me).

Since then I’ve been doing finger prick antibody tests once a month, all have been positive for antibodies from both virus and vaccine.

The tests were supposed to be for six months but they’ve just asked me to continue doing them for another six months. It’s all very interesting.

So those results suggest that you have had Covid but were completely unaware at the time (asymptomatic)?

That’s very interesting.

Download the app and it takes you through a questionnaire,then go on the government website and tick the Zoe app option.

Just reading instructions for the antibody test and it says not to use thumb or little finger. Anyone know why?

Choose your middle (3rd) or ring (4th) finger. Do not use your pinky or thumb, because you can hit bone on your pinky, and your thumb can bleed profusely. That sounds scary, but don’t worry, your middle and ring finger are safe. It is also recommended to choose your least used finger, so use your best judgment.

Yes, some time between my negative (November 2020) and positive (April 2021) antibody tests.

Hi. Just had a text and e mail with the results of my test. I have antibodies. The notification says this means I have either had covid within the last six months or have been vaccinated. I doubt very much that I have had covid - definitely not within the last six months, whereas I have been vaccinated within that time frame. Either way, I am relieved to know I have some protection and if I do contract the virus, hopefully will have less severe symptoms. I was concerned as I had absolutely no reaction to either vaccine and di wonder if I would be o e of the unlucky ones who didn't develop antibodies from it.
