Cold symptoms PCR test or not?

Hi, can anyone clarify this for me. My teen is off school today with a bad cold since Saturday. No reason to think it's covid and LF test yesterday and today negative. Are we meant to do a PCR test given delta symptom list ie headache, runny nose, bit of a sore throat (no temp) or not? PCR booking list obviously still lists old 3 symptom list.
thanks

I really hope so Onlybejoking, it will be a nightmare if DD feels better tomorrow morning and we have no result! I was really shocked when he said 48-72, have to hope he didn't know what he was talking about. DD fuming with me now as she is worried about missing more lessons unnecessarily.
We have had 2 pcrs this week (2 diff kids/2 diff days/2 diff sites), both were back within 15 hours of the test being taken....they email and text, but I have found that the emails were in my inbox early hours and the texts didn't follow until around 7.30am in the morning.

Still waiting after 25 hours for DS. I took my test today and now wondering how long it will take.
Was 36 hours for DS last winter.

Thanks both, hope yours comes through soon middleager. Dd seems a lot better than first thing this morning so I am kicking myself now. It’s always the way!

Just come back for my son, so 26 hrs.
It's positive as suspected. Just gotta wait for mine.
DS2 had it last Nov and hoping he won't catch it again.

Its so tricky my 3 year old developed cough and cold thur after 3 days in nursery she had just started.
Lft on sat whilst she was sleeping and was negative.
Kept her in all weekend and she seems better so sent her nursery today and her keyworker said she has cold and cough but negative covid test so maybe something else doing the rounds.
Sat I had bad headache and sniffles all day did lft test negative.
My 15 year old moaning sore throat and cold so she lft tested sat negative.
Yesterday 15 and 12 year old cold and sore throat again negative lft test but booked pcr test for both this morning they seem OK today hoping back soon as really don't want them to miss too much school.
I don't think our senior school being honest or transparent about how many postives they had.
Concerned now unis returning our area may get worse over coming weeks.

Look on your local authority website. Ours advises to get a PCR test if you feel ill with any symptoms at all. You say you have been advised by local authority to get a test so you don't need to lie!

Bumpsadaisie · 20/09/2021 15:25

My experience of delta - dh, dc and me - was having symptoms for quite a while before positive LTF.

Results back 5am (neg) so pretty quick after all that!

Great, you can send her to school with a clear conscience and if she coughs or blows her nose she can tell people she had a negative test.
