DD just started secondary school. This week 2 girls in DD’s form tested positive on lateral flow but negative on PCR so returned to school. DD has woken with cold like symptoms but has also tested positive on lateral flow. Have just taken PCR test so awaiting results. How are likely is to be another negative for my daughter. Reading on line false positive lateral flows are not a thing??

We had this with my DD this week. The line on the lateral flow test was faint but it was there. PCR negative

We had the same with our 12 year old. 4 positive lateral flow tests and 3 negative PCR’s. Same cold like symptoms as well

We had a positive lateral flow and negative pcr this week

It can sometimes be the way the pcr is administered.

I had 2 positive (very very very faint) lateral flow tests last week and PCR has just come back negative.
I have a cough.
I'm presuming PCR trump's lateral flow so I'm assuming I don't have Covid. Not sure what I need to do but I don't work and I don't have to go anywhere so I have decided to keep a low profile and not go out.

It happens all the time that's why it's best to do a PCR as if it's negative you don't have to isolate. It has to be within 24 hours of the lateral flow test though (in wales anyway)
