Are there any ‘asymptomatic’ cases anymore with this new variant?

I don’t hear of any asymptomatic cases anymore since this new delta variant has been around? Is it because it’s much stronger or something? The old variant there seemed to be lots of people testing positive that had close contacts that went on to have no symptoms. Now it seems everyone’s getting ill when testing positive even with the jabs !

There are a few asymptomatic teens in our school who have tested positive after having a pcr test after their positive lft tests. If my pcr test comes back positive I will be asymptomatic too.

OliveTree75 · 14/09/2021 17:57

Loads of kids I know have been asymptomatic recently

greenweepingwillow · 14/09/2021 18:04

yep, 2 of my teenagers had it recently, both totally asymptomatic. (was delta variant, other adult child had it also with mild sore throat for one day.)

Bobholll · 14/09/2021 18:06

Yep, several kids I know!

laselvar · 14/09/2021 18:06

We had a positive case in school on Friday, rest of the class were asked to get PCR tests, 3 more positives have come back despite kids having no symptoms.

Scarby9 · 14/09/2021 18:16

Yes.
If you know people in jobs with regular twice weekly testing, you tend to know people testing positive who would not otherwise have known because they look and feel perfectly well.

blameitonthecaffeine · 14/09/2021 18:33

I was almost asymptomatic. Mildest of sniffles, that's all.

And loads of kids are.

ArianaG · 14/09/2021 18:34

My dh is asymptomatic as is my 5 year old dc

DGFB · 14/09/2021 18:35

Yep

Lou573 · 14/09/2021 18:36

I was asymptomatic, had it after having 1 jab.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 14/09/2021 18:37

Yes me. I've had covid three times with zero symptoms. I work with covid patients and have been vaccinated.
I'm 60 and overweight.
One episode pre vaccine and 2 after found on routine testing.
Not even a headache. My younger colleagues were very ill.

OasisOfFerns · 14/09/2021 18:37

I know loads of asymptomatic teens as well.

Michellebops · 14/09/2021 19:16

My dad!
Tested positive on a lateral flow followed by pcr and is asymptomatic.
He's 70 and if he hadn't done a lat flow he would be at work just now 😳

Really intrigued by those who are asymptomatic Does it perhaps depend on the level of the virus you are exposed to? Otherwise it all seems quite random. One of my closest friends is obese and by her own admission very unhealthy. She tested positive and didn’t experience a single symptom. Spent 2 weeks in isolation fearing the worst and waiting for the illness to hit her. Nothing. She’s not vaccinated eitherConfused

I know scientists have studied and concluded why children are unaffected and assume there must be an ongoing sample study amongst similar groups of adults.

TheGrumpyGoat · 14/09/2021 20:49

Yes, plenty.

GCAcademic · 14/09/2021 20:50

Lots of my students have had it asymptomatically, only picked up through regular testing on campus.

AFuturisticalSound · 14/09/2021 21:04

I'm sure I heard on the radio today that something like 50% of cases are asymptomatic

Cherir20 · 15/09/2021 17:01

Wow ok from these responses I can see it is quite common still! So strange how it affects people so differently! I had covid last December and thought I had stomach flu for 2 days. Only tested as my baby and partner both got typical symptoms. I was fine and several months later was in pain every day and had liver issues since. Didn’t affect me much during the infection stage but left me bed bound for months following causing all kinds of problems with my body

DH was completely asymptomatic. I had a few sneezing fits and a migraine... But I have allergies and migraines a few times a week. So in all likelihood I was asymptomatic, too.

Both double jabbed, only picked up due to regular weekly LFT.

GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 15/09/2021 17:55

The covid we all had last march was very much not asymptomatic however!

Orangejuicemarathoner · 15/09/2021 17:56

How do you know it was the delta variant?
SunIsBehindGreySky · 15/09/2021 18:28

Shehasadiamondinthesky
