Are things still quieter with you?

Pre March 2020 no matter what time of the night there would be cars going passed our house, the main road through the village, I’ve been up with the baby for an hour and just realised there hasn’t been 1 car. Definitely not back to ‘normal’.

It’s a bit quieter here, but mainly because we are on a route that longer distance commuters would use. So those are the kind of people who were already WFH on a Friday etc and are now much more WFH. People just aren’t coming in and out of the city as much.

Still quieter on the village roads, although commuting is starting to busy up a bit now.

Nope. I live in a touristy village, I’ve never seen it so busy as this summer 🙈 it’s never much fun in summer but this year, madness! They are slowly going home now .. it’s def a bit quieter than it used to be on the school run, which I suspect is more people WFH.

ComtesseDeSpair · 14/09/2021 10:32

Traffic in much of London is much busier, because people are beginning to get back to normal life in many ways but still avoiding public transport. School run hours are particularly awful in my ‘hood. Madness when you think of the long term risks of air pollution for us all versus the relatively low risk for most of us from Covid.

I work at Canary Wharf and have been going back into the office some days - and it’s still relatively quiet although getting busier.

It seems noisier than ever where I am in London - I think because people are still (not today because it's pouring) socialising a lot outside and the noise carries.

emmathedilemma · 14/09/2021 10:37

Morning and evening rush hour traffic is getting busier but still quieter than normal. At weekends the traffic has been crazy! The city centre seemed busy at weekend with shoppers and tourists but probably still fewer tourists than there would normally be.

WhiskeryWoman · 14/09/2021 10:54

Nope! Busier than ever, last summer was the same. I don’t mind - it’s a privilege to live here and giving the local economy a boost. I live on the edge of a National Park, so it’s to be expected. I buggered off abroad for most of the summer for peace, calm and wonderful weather.

No. First lockdown it was dead.

Since last autumn though, as busy as ever.
