Hospital Covid Swabs

Good morning

I just wondered if anyone knew how long hospital covid swabs take for results?

I had a swab yesterday morning for some tests on Wednesdays.

I'm isolating at home anyway but developed a cold end of last week ( they were still happy for me to attend swab) and I'm pretty sure it's a cold but with delta I know you can never know

I have to start a pretty grim diet prep and they said the would only call if I was positive

So wondering at what point I can assume I am negative ?

I assume end of today. When my daughter had her op we both needed tests, they were done the day before we never got results.
I’m due for a home birth and been told the first thing midwifes will do is test me. That gets sent off by ambalance straight away I’m assuming they get the results quickly 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes I totally appreciate this but wondering at what point if I have heard nothing I can assume I am negative... ie how long do results take 😊

I had the same recently. You are right that they only contact you if positive BUT if you really want to know you can contact the hospital (for me it was the appointment booking line) and they can look up your results on your record and will give them to you happily I found! So worth a try!

Thanks Great idea and I just tried that but appointments team are answerphone only! How long after your swab did you call?

@Ljc1985, I think I tested on the Monday for my op on the Thursday. I spoke to them the Wednesday morning - first thing. Likely they had my results on the Tuesday too!

Sucks about the answerphone! Not sure what else to suggest!
