Anyone have no idea at all where they got it from?

My 16 year old tested positive monday. She hates going out, (she us autistic) and over summer when she hasnt HAD to go out she has been in her room practically isolating anyway Grin

Everyone else in the house was negative monday but today my 5 year woke up with a high temp and had s positive lft (im assuming the pcr will be positive too) .

It seems that the 16 year old picked it up first but i really cant think how!!

Did everyone take LFT or PCR on Monday?
If any of you had a false negative on the Monday (more likely with LFT) then it could be that person that was the initial case

Everyone took lfts Monday.

LFTs miss a lot of positive cases so getting a negative test is not a guarantee you don't have covid.

LilyPond2 · 11/09/2021 18:10

Maybe the 5-year-old picked it up first. LFTs often produce false negative results.

I would guess she has got it from one of you.

Or the youngest one just got a false negative.

Ds1 has it just now (rest of us had negative pcrs).

Presumably he got it from school so one of his friends must have spread it asymptomatically or he hasn't been washing his hands enough and picked it up from a surface.

He also pretty much self isolates out of school hours which has made the last few days feel pretty normal!

Isn't it more likely that your 5yr was just incubating the virus for longer, your 16 year old just showed symptoms sooner. Is the youngest back at school? If so then he's probably the spreader or it's the working adults.

The pathogen laden soup that surrounds us at all times?
That still comes in when we open a door and window.
There’s everything in the atmosphere viruses, bacteria, fungi spores like aspergillus, pollen spores, dust mites, moulds
Good job we can’t see what we are breathing in isn’t it
Thank goodness we have an immune system
It might not always be perfect , especially if it dips but it must work pretty well or we’d soon all be dead

It’s meant to switch on and off which is why shutting yourself away is never a good idea
