Faint positive on LFT?

Will attach, but this came up within the 30-40 minute window. I can definitely see something as well as DP.

DS has been very unwell this week and is currently waiting for his PCR results.

Have already booked a PCR just in case as I've heard that you can get faint positives on LFT and as I was slightly over the window of checking. I have some more LFT coming for DP as that was the last one Grin

Have a very slight temperature. Am double vaccinated.

Can anyone else see anything or is it a repeat of my squinty eye pregnancy phase Grin

Faint positive on LFT?

My pcr was negative. Still showing faint positive on lat flows this morning 🤷🏻‍♀️🙈

Here too - faint positive; negative PCR. No symptoms.

Dodgy batches? 😬 thing is my dp tested clear negative from the same pack but me positives everytime. So strange. I have been doing lateral flows ever since they were a thing and have never had it until this week … however on the new 15 min Jose only ones.

I have been in contact with someone whose son (sleeps in her bed so very close contact) has had Covid last week which is why it would be believable if I had it but she is negative too so guess not.

PCR Negative, as was DS!

Probably a dye issue, which is a relief!

@Hels20

Fingers crossed *@sociallydistained*. I spoke to my doctor friend and she said that 1% are wrong so there is always that chance and 1% isn’t zero…

Covid is the gift that keeps on giving isn’t it?

The 1% becomes significant if covid rates are low. At the moment, I think it’s one in 80. So imagine 800 people take a LTF. 10 of them will have covid, and the LTF test will pick up just over half, so let’s say 6.

790 won’t have covid, and I think the false positive rate is actually only half of a percent. So LTF will wrongly be positive in 4 (3.95) of these.

So we have 10 people testing positive of whom 6 genuinely have covid, and 4 are false positives.

That’s why you need to follow up with a PCR.

(And if the false positive rate were 1%, ie 8 false positives, then with a positive LTF you’d actually be more likely to not have covid than to have it)
