Why am I so unwell?

I've caught Covid from primary school aged DS who also has it. I'm double vaccinated and was vaccinated quite early because I work in a care home. I'm 40.

I feel awful, it started 4 days ago with a sore throat, can barely get out of bed, cough, fever etc. I don't remember feeling this unwell for years and years.

I feel so low and sad and teary, I can't stop questioning why I feel so unwell, has my vaccine not worked or would I have been one of those people who would have ended up in ITU and died? Is it going to get worse or am I going to get long Covid?

Sorry I know this is pretty pointless because no one can tell me but I just feel awful and so low about it all.

I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly. I hope you start to improve very soon and then get fully better quickly

Oh love, you’re ill with a virus that has dominated our lives for the last eighteen months, you’re dealing with two separate issues; being ill and the emotional and mental fall out of facing something that was previously something you only heard about as a second/third/forth hand experience.

Deal with the here and now, your immune system will be doing what it needs to do (don’t forget it was trained for an earlier variant not delta) and try to avoid spiralling into obsessing over things you have no control over.

Keep hydrated, keep resting, keep on top of your painkillers and don’t hesitate to contact medical support if you feel even slightly out of your depth. Flowers

@SandandFog I felt exactly like you during the first 2 weeks. It only started to improve after this time, so don’t panic, but you have to be patient, sometime it’s a very slow recovery. Take it easy, don’t worry about not eating as long as you are drinking, take paracetamol to make you feel human, don’t forget you can contact 111 at any time.

DH is currently the same . Water, water, vitamins, paracetamol, sleep and make sure you eat too - even if you don’t feel like it!

@SandandFog how are you feeling?

Good advice above & rest as much as you can even when you are feeling better don't rush getting back to normal
