If your child is an adult/teen, you can:

  • ask her to isolate in her room as much as possible/divide up house into rooms for her & you
  • ask her to eat in her room & send the food up
  • ask her to wear an N95 in halls etc if going to garden
  • keep windows open

FLUSH with lid DOWN (as there is transmission from airbourne faecal matter)

Have a bathroom rota, she uses last & cleans up as best she can afterwards & opens windows. After leaving to air a bit, wipe down youself wearing an N95 mask

If your DD is a child, then I agree you can't do as much to isolate: but I would still be as 'careful' as I could, mainly to be well enough to look after DCs

If there is space, you & DP could sleep separately from each other to reduce risk a bit, but delta is that bit more transmissible, & ventilate as much as possible

I have read its faster for delta, mostly 4-6 days. Sending you best wishes

Hidingattheback · 08/09/2021 14:06

I got it first and it was about 3 days later when DH and DC got symptoms, i.e. started coughing and feeling ill.

actiongirl1978 · 08/09/2021 14:10

3 days from DD13 feeling nauseous to me feeling nauseous.

user7012893145776 · 08/09/2021 14:27

I'm living with family members with covid and I haven't caught it.

user7012893145776 · 08/09/2021 14:27

Isolation is nearly up. I tested negative and have done lateral flows and they're negative too.

Payproblems · 08/09/2021 16:00

So some hope user.

We've dive the pcr today but no symptoms.. And I work at a large site with lots of people in fairly close quarters

To add to the hope - I know a married couple who were sharing a bed: husband got it, wife didn’t (both teachers but she was on May leave). Not a foregone conclusion

Those were alpha times though, in families that have had it more recently seems to be more spreading.: focus on getting airflow through the house & separating as much as possible: for next 10 days (vs cleaning surfaces- not really the main transmission route)

Newpuppymummy · 08/09/2021 16:31

We got it 5 days after teen

Payproblems · 08/09/2021 17:11

CalmDownBoris72 · 08/09/2021 19:13

My family recently had COVID, I was the only one out of 7 who didn’t, we didn’t do an ounce of isolating from each other (I would have happily hidden myself away for a week!) and if anything spent more time around each other.

On the other hand, my SIL tested positive on the day before her family were due to come out of isolation so she did 19 days. She wasn’t doing daily LF tests so she doesn’t know how long after her kids got it that she did so she had to count the last day as her start day of isolation. Her husband didn’t catch it either. They have 3 kids.

All delta variant given the area we live in and the fact it was last month.

Darkchocolateandcoffee · 08/09/2021 19:19

Two of my DC had it separately and none of the rest of us caught it either time.

We wore masks when in close proximity but couldn't really avoid each other in the same house.

Good luck OP! You can do this!

Payproblems · 08/09/2021 20:12

Interesting!
Even with delta then it seems pot bad luck...

Dh has a mild headache.
I will feel happier when our pcr tests come back.

Despairing it's public sector work, I'm pushed up against other people I've been in round of 40/50 plus this past week.

I am positive as well , fell ill really suddenly last Friday. Kids and husband are still negative on lateral flow and pcr . I caught it from a friend I gave a lift to (10 mins in the car) on the Tuesday so for me it was 3 days x

MyBadHabitsLeadToYou · 08/09/2021 20:17

It must be difficult to not feel ill when you’re told you have Covid though. I bet some of the milder symptoms are psychosomatic Grin

godwingolly · 08/09/2021 20:23

My teen got it. Id say it was delta as symptoms matched. I’d been in a car with him and next to him in the cinema by the time he realised. So I didn’t bother isolating him. Kept the patio doors open but nothing else. My elder daughter was not impressed and wore a mask. No-one ease caught it, including my elderly mother - also in the car with him without masks.

Eldest got it off her friend about a month later.

ohthejoysoftoddler · 08/09/2021 20:25

Are you vaccinated?

winnieanddaisy · 08/09/2021 21:19

I live with DD and her family . DD got covid from a patient in work . I got it about 5 days later . Her DD did not get it at all neither did her DH despite DGD sitting on the bed chatting to her and her DH sleeping in the same bed . DD was really ill and ended up ITU/HDU for 2 weeks. 9 months later she's still not fully recovered . I spent a week in hospital as covid sent my type 2 diabetes up the wall .

Payproblems · 09/09/2021 07:04
  • those in cars did you have windows open?

Yes I'm vaccinated but people are still getting v ill with it just not dying as much. 🤒

OP posts:

Payproblems · 09/09/2021 20:22
