Any signs of 3rd booster vaccines for anyone?

I'm supposedly getting one in September, or so says my GP, but I've not heard of anyone having a 3rd vaccine yet. Has anyone had any information about it yet?

Nope

Family member with a condition that clearly qualifies for it.

Initial announcement said to expect a notification shortly, but no sign of it. Not sure who is meant to be notifying us, or when (and to whom) it would be reasonable to enquirer if silence continues

My gp says that they are waiting for guidance still.

The booster or the third jab? Anecdotally, I heard they are trying to arrange logistics for immune compromised people who need a third jab before the booster prog .

nether · 08/09/2021 17:37

I meant the extra jab for the 500,000 most vulnerable.

I didn't think there had been any announcements for further jabs for any outside that group

I asked a pharmacist at a local independent one (which is doing Pfizer jabs) last week, but they had not received guidance then.

I think it's a bit off to make the announcement, say we'll hear imminently, and then leave us dangling. If they knew it was going to take a couple of weeks to sort the logistics, they should have said that

They announced it six days ago

@nether

I worded it badly, I mean they haven’t actually sorted the logistics of the third jab, let alone the booster.

nether · 08/09/2021 18:28

Oh! SWYM - sorry!

Mickarooni · 08/09/2021 18:41

Just to add, I’m not criticising the NHS or those who vaccinate, I know they’ve been doing a lot of planning and are awaiting the green light.

herecomesthsun · 08/09/2021 18:41

Hmm, it isn't entirely clear how they demarcate the categories for either the 3rd jab or the booster I think, in terms of whether individual patients meet the criteria.

Speaking as someone from a family where a number of people might or might not qualify.

My GP contacted me to say September too (along with my flu jab) but I haven’t heard anything further.

HELP! I have had 2 vaccines of astra zeneca. I was refused a booster (Pfizer) as I had a reaction to the contraceptive injection 20 years ago and it has the same ingrediant in pfizer PEG. They advised me to go to my GP and request a referral to the allergy clinic who will decide the risks of giving me phizer or a third dose - which will have to be in a clinical setting incase I have an anaphylactic shock.
The GP was useless and said it was nothing to do with them and to contact 119 - 119 referred me back to the GP. I could not get past the receptionist who advised to just go to a vaccination site and ask for astra zeneca - I reiterated that I can not do this as astra zeneca is not being used as a booster and it needs to be a medical professional to recommend this. In the end I got to speak tothe GP who told me he has never heard of anyone being referred to an allergy clinic and that the waiting list is over a year. He reluctantly wrote a brief letter stating I had a reaction to the contraceptive injection and there was no incidents with the astra zeneca. I have made a booking at a site but 119 were doubtful they will give me astra zeneca -My last vaccine was over 6 months ago so I have no protection at all.
