Have they been offered a second jab?

DS has had his first jab for health reasons, but the clinic said they wouldn't book a second as that age group was only having 1.

Looking at the guidance though I think he should have 2, it's just the 'healthy' 16-17 year olds who are currently being offered 1.

Just wondering if the person I spoke to got it wrong?
Thanks!

I thought they got 2 jabs. It’s only the 16/17 year olds without health issues that only get 1 at the minute.

halcyondays · 06/09/2021 14:28

Is he CEV or does he have other underlying conditions?

MandyMotherOfBrian · 06/09/2021 14:28

Yes, they’ve got it wrong. You are correct re healthy children only getting one jab.

My DD (17) had the vaccine because DH is CEV. In addition, she volunteers in a children’s and young adults care home and so needs a double vaccination to continue her work there, she received the invitation for her second jab this morning.

However, that’s academic because there are no slots available at the hospital she’s been invited to - I’m currently trying to find out if we can use the evidence of her ‘invitation’ to get the second one at a walk in near here (that has lots of availability). But our GP, and also 119 vaccine enquiries line, don’t seem to know the answer 🤷‍♀️

Yes DD had hers yesterday and she is getting 2. If they roll it out at schools that is I think just one

Thanks all- I spoke again to the booking line and she said email the clinic as she didn’t know the answer!
Not CEV but has an underlying condition- very mild to be honest and was quite surprised to be offered a jab but it is one of the conditions that are on the list.

Yes, my dc got notified of the 2nd appt at the first. 8 week gap

halcyondays · 06/09/2021 15:23

I booked dd1 in as she has an underlying condition on the new expanded list on the booking it said she’d get a second appointment given to her at the vaccination centre. Did you just have to bring a letter with your ds’s diagnosis? Not a recent letter from a GP?

30daysandcounting · 06/09/2021 15:46

I didn’t have to take anything. The vaccination clinic called me as he was on the list they had received from the GP. Big London hospital hub. Have to have it there.

Thanks, it seems to work differently here, you take a letter with you to one of the centres.

Just to follow up- 2nd jab now booked!
