What is the "covid cough" like these days?

I started with a cold last week. Scratchy throat, sneezing etc. Ive taken LF tests each day, negative.
I started coughing yesterday, coughed loads last night, and am still coughing today though nowhere near as much. It's a fairly typical pattern for me when I get a cold. I also have a bit of earache, and I'm a little bit tired (but nowhere near a "flu" level of tiredness).
I took myself for a PCR earlier to be on the safe side, but I'm pretty certain this is just a cold.
I remember seeing videos of the "covid cough" last year, and it was more barking - seal like than what I have now. But I'm curious if it's changed with Delta?

I've got covid at the moment and just feels like a heavy cold. Not coughing that much but needing to take paracetamol for headache regularly.

My covid cough in October was more like a constant need to clear my throat, rather than coughing properly.

Having previously had pneumonia I kind of expected it to be more like that- but was nothing like as bad as that cough.

Currently have covid, first few days cough was not particularly impressive.
Today has developed alot into a long, can't catch breath squeezing cough, makes me feels like an accordion being fully squeezed. Horrible

So many people who I know who have had Covid recently report more mild cold like, headache, sore throat symptoms at the start. The cough sometimes comes later or not at all. If I came out with anything like this I’d have a PCR . I wouldn’t rely on my LFT.

Yes there are other bugs around and colds will be back with a vengeance but it’s sensible to rule Covid out rather than assume cold and go round spreading. Covid all the more.

It's ages since they said there was a decision cough. Right at the start, they said dry cough and loads of people went to work, school etc with ' the wrong cough for covid' , spreading it along the way! FWIW , I was just in a Covid ward . Half of the
the ward coughed from time to time and they were all different sounding. Mine was dry and lasted one night.

Don't know where ^decision came from, but it kind of works!

I'll wait with you. Also did a PCR this morning. Bad cold started yesterday but I woke up coughing, though haven't coughed since. I believe Delta symptoms do tend to be more cold like.

My 2nd vac isn't due til end of the month, but hoping first 1 was enough to keep things mild if I do have it.

My nephew has recently had COVID and his cough was wracking and constant for days 5-8. A couple of weeks on and he's still coughing a bit.

I have just come out of isolation for covid and although I didn't have what I would call a persistent cough I am now left with a small cough which I can only describe as being somewhere down in my windpipe and which is extremely annoying.

I really hope it goes soon.

My very speedy result has come in - negative! I was pretty certain it would be but wanted to be certain!

@Muststopeating did you get your results back yet?

@bocodilloconqueso not yet... they are normally in very early in the morning up here so getting frustrated. I have a 7 week old baby (and 2 other smalls) and feeling guilty everytime I'm close to her (which is all the time) just in case. Though i very much think it is a cold that the biggest small brought home from nursery.

My ds coughed once with Covid and it was more of a clearing his throat. There is no typical cough.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/09/2021 11:21
