Please help vaccine trial volunteers.

Having been in a Covid trial study since October 2020 we are still registered as unvaccinated.

We have noone fighting our case.
And we are now disadvantaged for helping in a trial. We don't feel this is acceptable. We steeped up to help get a vaccine to help others. We now need your help to tell the government that their lack of action is not acceptable.

I'd appreciate any signatures. This is Scotland focused. However this vaccine will be used for booster for the elderly and vulnerable across the UK this winter.

agree that sounds infuriating and very unfair. What trial is it?
I too am on a trial but one of the earlier ones (AZ) and so vaccine was approved etc and my doses have been registered so I did not encounter this issue (although it had never even occurred to me what would happen if the vaccine was not approved.)
Can you get unblinded to find out if you have had the placebo and if so, just go get one of the approved vaccines?
I'd be tempted to do that if I needed a covid pass for something like travel

Your scenario would certainly put me off volunteering again.

Novavax. We had a crossover trial in the spring so a huge proportion of us did get the vaccine, if not in the first pair, in the second. Many did get an approved vaccine when they needed one for travel despite knowing they had already received the Novavax one. Anecdotally I've not heard of any ill effect.

ah ok - I did see a Novavax thread on here a few weeks ago, try adn find it and you could link up with others presumably in same boat . Yes it does seem that trial has slowed down probably due to lack of volunteers! and no wonder if it leaves people with this dilemma.

Yeah there is a thread of us and @Torvean is aware I think she's trying to drum up extra support for the petition, which is fair enough.

I'm in England and also on the trial and have managed to get an approved vaccine now but basically had to lie to get it which is far from ideal.

It's nothing to do with lack of volunteers just lack of will by the regulators to approve, due in part to manufacturing issues. They've had our data for ages and it's broadly excellent. It absolutely will affect recruitment to future trials though. A complete shit show.

This really has been a horrible mess, and I feel very upset by the whole process. So many people were prepared to put themselves forward to help, and we've all been treated very badly (though Scotland participants are definitely in a worse position given that in England we are now treated as vaccinated domestically). For me, the big issue now is travel - I used to travel a lot for work and it's not at all clear that I will be able in the immediate future which is causing problems. I'm not really comfortable getting an approved vaccine at the moment but am close to doing so. Anyhow, have signed your petition.

If it was last year won't you need another jab by now? Or is the trial still ongoing and you aren't allowed?

There is possible talk of us getting a booster. we are allowed to leave the trial and get another vaccine which I have done. But in many cases we can’t get an approved vaccine without an almighty faff

I’m on the Janssen trial and understand exactly your concerns. We were fortunate enough that we eventually have had the trial vaccine recognised, but it was very frustrating when that was up in the air.

What's so frustrating is Novavax keep doing other studies and font file for EUA.
They're an American pharmaceutical and don't seem to give a crap about the UK volunteers.

There is a specific registry organisation that's uploading vaccination . However 1 of 2 things is happening, they're claiming we've not given permission to upload/ they're also saying they need a code from the government which hasn't been given.

After NS wanting vaccine passports in place this month its just added to the stress.

I've had an email today that confirms that the Scottish govt are stopping us being added to the website.

I really need to get up to 100 bites to get the petition shared by change.org.

Please if you got an NHS vaccine support us. Without trials and volnteers you snd your loved ones would not have had access to your vaccines.
