Symptoms are like a heavy cold. Both double jabbed.
Both isolating but able to function normally.
Really respecting the vaccine right now.

Thank you for sharing. My mum is a similar age and I'm quite nervous about her possibly getting covid and how poorly she might become.

May I ask which vaccine they had?

CatAlice · 01/09/2021 11:19

All the vaccines give very high protection against hospitalisation, over 95% whether pfizer or AZ.
Somewhat less against actual infection.
So hopefully they will feel a bit under the weather for a couple of weeks but that's all.

Just be aware that the worst seems to be around 7 to 10 days, they might feel quite tired and need a bit of help at that point.

sonsmum · 01/09/2021 11:21

@beautifullymad they had the AZ vaccine (both had mild reactions after the first dose)

Although they're being very careful generally am really worried about my parents catching covid right now. DF is vulnerable
Hope they get away relatively lightly OP

I hope they both feel better soon. I am glad they are not feeling too bad. Makes me feel a little better. I worry sick about my grandma. She's 79 and double jabbed with Az but I've always worried she will catch it! 💕

Thanks for posting this. I hope your parents continue to have a mild case and get well soon! I worry so much about my mum who’s 75 getting it. She lives on her own though and is very fit and active. I can’t ask her not to go out and see people, she’d just say “what’s the point of being alive then?” She got upset when I suggested she see a bit less of my children once they go back to school. It’s such a pickle. Confused

Siameasy · 01/09/2021 19:15

Encourage them to take it really easy. I had it mildly and was a bit smug and then on day 12 I suddenly felt hideous and have been in bed ever since!!
I am so grateful for the jab as I’m imagining how much worse it could’ve been
