DD16 is getting her first dose today and thinks she is more likely to get bad side effects due to being younger. Any teens had it and not suffered at all?

DS (16) had his last Saturday and hasn’t had anything other than a sore arm for a day or two.

WhatHaveIFound · 27/08/2021 15:53

DS (also 16) got his on Wednesday. He had a bit of a stiff arm at first but it's pretty much worn off now. No other side effects.

My 16 year old felt achey and tired for one day but fine by next day when she went off to Reading Festival! Paracetamol helped too so very little reaction and she’s glad she’s done it.

OublietteBravo · 27/08/2021 15:54

DD (17) had it just over a week ago. No side effects other than a slightly sore arm.

herecomesthsun · 27/08/2021 15:54

My 13 year old has a slightly sore arm. Other than that he has been happily socialising, going out to eat & getting on with hobbies etc

dementedpixie · 27/08/2021 15:55

My 17 year old dd had a sore arm for a couple of days

BluebellsGreenbells · 27/08/2021 15:57

3 teens all had sore arm

DD18 felt hungover but that was more to do with actually drinking alcohol!!

OvaHere · 27/08/2021 16:01

DS 17 had one yesterday. No symptoms other than slight soreness at injection site.

I was a little surprised because me, DH and DS (20) all had flu symptoms after. My 20 yr old's were mild and brief but he did have some.

My DD (28) also had zero symptoms afterwards so I don't think you can predict based on age completely. That said many young people don't seem to have much in the way of side effects compared to older adults.

MareofBeasttown · 27/08/2021 16:04

My 17 yr old DS had it 3 weeks ago. He had side effects but then we realised he had Covid! V mild case and he is fine now. DD, 20, also had it and had a mild fever for a few hours.

TAmumto3 · 27/08/2021 16:08

DS is having his on Tuesday. He tested positive on 25 July and was quite poorly. Are side effects more likely in those who had the virus recently, does anyone know?

Row1n · 27/08/2021 16:10

Ds 16 had his 2nd last week, mild headache after the 2nd one and a sore arm after both and thats it

MareofBeasttown · 27/08/2021 16:10

@Tamumto3 the NHS helpline did tell us that side effects might be more severe in teens who have had Covid. I am no doctor, mind you. Best just to allow for some recovery time after?

Vickles20 · 27/08/2021 16:11

Yes. All fine. She just mentioned her shoulder aching a bit

Lougle · 27/08/2021 16:12

DD1 is 15 - her arm was a bit sore the next day but that's it.

Abraxan · 27/08/2021 16:12

I know a number of teens now aged 16-19y who have had one or both vaccines.
None have had any real side effects, beyond a sore arm.
DD's friend had her second the morning of going to a festival. Hasn't held her back at all.
