The reason I am asking is that I am on a Spain (holiday forum where some accommodation appear to be insisting on a PCR test for entry from the uk after a certain amount of time passed after your 2nd jab has elapsed

Presently you do not need one to enter if your double vaxxed

This is only speculation atm, but we all know where that goes so….

Wonder if they'll use AZ for boosters, or all Pfizer. And if Pfizer, they won't be doing them in random pharmacies as I understand it, as there is are no nurses stations and adrenaline ready to br administered. Or maybe there are.

Hboo31 · 23/08/2021 22:46

@SandyStarfish no nurse but pharmacies must have a stock of adrenaline amps (or pre filled syringe such as Jext) in order to provide flu jabs so should be the same.

DMIL volunteers in a vaccine centre and I think they were told to expect boosters from September.

Also work in the vaccine centre Also been told to expect boosters soon just awaiting confirmation

No plan yet, if at all.
Theres definitely plans just not 100% confirmed

*We are expecting supplies at the end of September/beginning of October to do joint flu/Covid booster clinics.
Doesn’t mean that will actually happen mind you.

Having the flu jab within 14 days of covid vaccination is a contraindication currently so I'm suprised at this comment.*

Yes Also surprised at this as currently guidance is no other injections within 7 days , who knows maybe science and data has shown it possible to have both at same time with risk to patients or reduced efficacy in either vaccine

Still in planning stages as I understand it. Last publication from JCVI was 30/6 where the interim advice is that, should a booster programme be required, a third COVID-19 vaccine dose should be offered to the most vulnerable first, starting from September 2021 to maximise individual protection and safeguard the NHS ahead of winter.

Hopefully in care homes and cev soon. Maybe some more will get a antibody response and give them a chance.

Twilightstarbright · 24/08/2021 07:19

I’ve booked my flu jab at Boots, I always book ASAP so there’s time for me to rearrange if necessary or for stocks to not arrive. I’m CEV/immunosuppressed so it’s not uncommon for me to be ill and need to rearrange the flu jab appt.

My rheumatologist said Oct for boosters. I was fully vaccinated by the end of February so end of September is when I hit six months.

hellcatspangle · 24/08/2021 07:23

Well my decorator told me yesterday that his friend is a retired nurse and she "knows someone on the inside" and we are definitely having boosters in October followed by a definite two month lockdown...

P.S. she doesn't actually know anything and is just telling him her opinion

ifonly4 · 24/08/2021 07:42

hellcatspangle I know someone who works for a Covid test lab. They've were to prepare for another wave in the autumn. I think the government will be against lockdown, but we might have to go back to masks and distancing, perhaps school will go back to mixing in year bubbles. I wonder if household mixing will temporarily go (this won't affect economy and people can still meet up outside/a drink in stated numbers).

GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 24/08/2021 07:43

My GP has said they'll be doing them with the flu jabs, which they usually start towards the end of September.

cptartapp · 24/08/2021 07:48

hashbrown it's seven days gap, and this is likely to be scrapped.
Not been told whether we'll even be doing the boosters. Our fridges are completely full in flu season and no space for another.
I suspect vaccine centres will do most of it in some areas.

Egghead68 · 24/08/2021 07:52

JCVI haven’t even made a decision whether they will happen yet.

I am CEV, was jabbed Dec 8 and Jan 5, and work in a hospital. We have the second highest Covid rates in the world. I am absolutely terrified about my waning immunity.

I may have less than 55% protection against severe illness currently, according to some work from Israel (although I appreciate that the figures are not robust).

Egghead68 · 24/08/2021 08:37

This is what the Times is saying today. Seems to be no sense of urgency from the JCVI.

JCVi have made bad decisions in the past imo, for example not prioritising CEV for the first round of vaccinations (until pressure groups forced them to move CEV from group 6 to group 4) and dragging their heels on vaccinating teens.

nomore3lw · 24/08/2021 10:36

@ifonly4 @hellcatspangle there were people on here that 'knew' people in the NHS that had been told to cancel all their annual leave for an August lockdown.

So I think really, no one knows...

hellcatspangle · 27/08/2021 05:39

M y 84 year old uncle had his appointment come through for his booster yesterday (for September)

Egghead68 · 27/08/2021 05:59

Booster or flu vaccine? JCVI haven’t approved boosters yet.
