My mum caught covid and is in hospital and I'm all over the place.
She's in ICU but on CPAP and not ventilated, day 3 today.

I'm desperate to hear from anyone that's been through or knows someone that has recovered.
Please, tell me your positive covid story.

DH’s uncle (late 50s) was hospitalised last year. He’s back to normal now.
Best wishes to your family

I was in hospital for 10 nights. I was on maximum oxygen on CPAP but not in ICU.

One night I heard mutterings of ICU, being ventilated because they couldn't up the oxygen anymore and calling family but I pulled through!

I'm home now and recovering slowly.

Nurses kept telling me that there are so many who recover with the help of the CPAP and loads of drugs. The medical staff are amazing and have learnt a lot about how to treat covid patients.

I wish you and your mum well x

@Bubbublish the OP is asking for genuine stories I think, didn’t yours turn out not to be or was highly embellished?

Bubbublish · 22/08/2021 14:34

@SmidgenofaPigeon

My story IS true and not embellished in anyway.

If I can pass on a success story and answer someone's question then I'm happy to do so.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 22/08/2021 14:35

Oh, I thought your thread and subsequent ones after got taken down?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 22/08/2021 14:35

Anyway not to derail OP’s thread, sending best wishes to you and your mum Flowers

Two friends of my mother (women, mid 70s) were hospitalised during the second wave last autumn. Both were in for nearly a week and needed oxygen and blood thinners but survived. 1 is fine now, 1 has ongoing symptoms (but is home and living a normal ish life again).

You pulled through but were on the verge of being ventilated. Well done for keeping up the detailed and lengthy posts during that time. Sterling workHmm

In my state of fear last night, I did forget I posted this.
Thank you to you all so far for your stories and best wishes.
It's been a mix of CPAP and the smaller mask (for meal times). SATS are stable with the oxygen and I'm still waiting in an update from doctors but her dedicated nurses are amazing and mums being well looked after.
She's had 40 odd years of illnesses and is immunocompromised so covid has been a major fear in our family.
We're all praying hard that she beats this so all positivity, wishes and prayers are welcome....thank you all so much xx

I had a friend who was 40, diabetic, pre vaccine rollout. Ended up in an induced coma and ventilated but pulled through.
