Just overheard dd talking to MIL on the phone
She asked if dd had a cough when she stayed over there last week
She said no, why?
They have a cough and cold symptoms but say they’re fine because they did a lateral flow test that was negative
I said to Dh I’m worried and we should test dd
He’s getting all shirty with me now saying I’m ‘over the top’
He eventually called MIL back and asked if they’d done a PCR
She said yes. I thought earlier they’d said it was a LF! I think she’s got muddled up and definitely did a LF test therefore could have covid just didn’t test with the right test
We are due to go on holiday very soon and I feel so anxious now. Shall I get dd tested tomorrow?

If your DD has no symptoms, you don;t need a PCR. If you think your DD could have it - why would you test only her? Haven't you been in contact with her and your MIL?

dementedpixie · 16/08/2021 21:29

When was your dd with them?
If it was longer than 48 hours before symptoms then she wouldn't be counted as a contact

Realitea · 16/08/2021 21:54

Dd was with them Monday and she was dropped off Tuesday. We had no contact with the IL’s
It’s hard to get any solid information as they’re so cagey about it for some reason but it sounds like their symptoms started shortly after she stayed. I test very regularly with lateral flow tests and all have been negative.

I would only test dd because none of us have been near the IL’s

If your dd isn't showing symptoms you could LFT her

Realitea · 16/08/2021 22:03

She just did one an hour ago and luckily it’s negative. Let’s hope it stays that way

If contact was a week ago your dd either has it with no symptoms or doesn't have it. Are you travelling abroad? If so I'd be doing very regular lat flows until you travel.

Looneytune253 · 17/08/2021 09:03

Are you flying? You're best off getting the pcr now then as if you leave it till the pcr before your holiday you would then have 10 days isolation before you go. If you do it now you would isolate from today

Realitea · 17/08/2021 09:45

That’s true. We will have to do it today.

You don’t need to do one though 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I suppose no harm if you really wanted too..

There are a hell of a lot of colds & coughs going round at the moment. We’ve been hit hard in this house with them but several negative PCR’s & LFTS! Just a stinking cold 😩

She doesn’t need a test! She has no symptoms. I feel like testing for covid is becoming a hobby for some people!
