Travel check tool - vaccine acceptance per country

I found this tool to check vaccine type and which countries currently accept it; obviously best to double check its answers but it looks accurate. As countries are extending additional approvals quite regularly, it may be useful for people who need to travel or who have had an unusual vaccine or a range of jabs for the family:

I had Moderna and I’m surprised that it’s not accepted as vaccination in quite a few countries!

MRex · 14/08/2021 16:52

I'm sure it will be @Slayduggee, it's just an odd aspect of these times that it appears the admin to verify vaccination is such a long and complicated process.

I’m not planning to go abroad in 2021 so I’m fine 🙂

We were thinking of going to Antigua but AZ isn't accepted!

I’m a bit puzzled by that, certainly BA have, AFAIK, been running flights almost daily between London and Antigua for a while now so somebody is going there from the UK, presumably some of those in turn will have been AZ’d.

Maybe folks are happy to sit in quarantine in a hotel on the beach?

That’s bollocks cos Antigua is using Astra Zeneca, and they are accepting the nhs Covid vaccine certificates. That website also says Portugal don’t accept the Indian made AZ, which is false, they do.
EileenGC · 14/08/2021 18:34

That is not an official website. It even says so in the disclaimer at the bottom of the screenshot.

Check whether a vaccine is accepted or not on the official travel/health/government websites, not random sites which aren’t 100% kept up to date.

Does it say so on Antigua’s official health ministry website? Or travel advisory site? People ought to know you only use reviewed, official sources when looking for such important information
MRex · 14/08/2021 18:38

@Aposterhasnoname - Antigua approved covishield not astrazeneca and Portugal are listed as not accepting Covishield: www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/eu-travel-covishield-sinopharm-sinovac-vaccines-are-most-widely-accepted-by-eu-countries-after-those-authorised-by-ema/.
I have no idea why other vaccines are made in multiple countries without issue but not Astrazeneca, it seems very odd.

I would contact Antigua's consulate though to check, I can't find anything about them refusing to include the AZ vaccine as a valid vaccine, especially as the UK just sent them some doses.

The thing is government requirements change all the time, there’s literally no way a 3rd party could keep up with the ever changing requirements.
People are just going to have to find the official government info every time, though I hear often airlines have their own rules which complicates things further

Bordois · 14/08/2021 19:08

Covishield is AZ IRC

KentuckyCriedFricken · 14/08/2021 19:32

Unreliable. We are going to Costa Rica in a few weeks and this tool says our vaccines are not accepted but the CR official government website says they are.

MRex · 14/08/2021 19:39

Yes, but some countries are being silly about it.

@KentuckyCriedFricken - good to know. It's a shame, I checked a few and had thought it was fairly reliable. Obviously they need to put more effort into updates.

OP posts:

Obviously they need to put more effort into updates.

The only websites that need to put any effort into updates are the official government ones. Why do people ever rely on unofficial sources? The ONLY websites one should check before traveling are official ones.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/08/2021 22:16

To be honest it doesn’t really matter what they accept as we’ll probably cancel. I can’t think of a worse way to spend a holiday than walking around in a mask and worrying I might test positive while I’m out there and have to say in a crappy quarantine facility!
