Fewer masks in Scotland now?

I know the masks are going to be here in certain situations for some time yet but I’ve noticed a large downturn in the shops and when out and about. Is this because the rules have changed in England too, perhaps people are feeling enough is enough?

I've just returned to England from 2 weeks in Scotland. I didn't see anymore not wearing a mask indoors.

I've not seen a lot of change but it's only been 2 days hasn't it? I was in another part of Scotland in a hotel Sunday into Monday and it was the English guests that were forgetting masks going into the reasturant and bar.

Mrsjayy · 11/08/2021 16:36

Tbf the people did put masks on I just think they forgot.

StarryStarrySocks · 11/08/2021 16:42

Most folk are still wearing them where I am in Edinburgh.

Mrsjayy · 11/08/2021 16:44

My Dd works in retail and she said customers have been wearing masks.

Palomabalom · 11/08/2021 16:47

They definitely weren’t today! It probably differs from place to place. Also you tend to have a domino effect where people see others not wearing them and they don’t bother.

Where were they not wearing them?

Palomabalom · 11/08/2021 17:01

@Mrsjayy in both smaller shops and large supermarket. Don’t get me wrong there were still mask wearers just a LOT more not wearing than I’ve seen .

I don't know where you're shopping. We're in Scotland and I'd estimate 90+% of teens and adults are wearing masks in indoor public places. Compliance is very good here. Don't start trouble.

Palomabalom · 11/08/2021 18:47

@containsnuts keep your hair on or should I say mask! Lol 😂
You might “ not know where I was shopping”, but I do and I’m telling you the mask compliance here in a town in Scotland has decreased based on my experience today. What kind of trouble were you thinking I might start?

I noticed today a lot of people weren't wearing them when I was in the shopping centre and wondered the same thing.

Tinkerbellfluffyboots79 · 11/08/2021 19:17

I was in (a Scottish) town today, sat waiting in the shopping centre for my friend.

Previously those without a mask wore a lanyard however how people are just not wearing them. Or majority are wearing them under their noses. I wear mine, I also wear one for work 12 hour shifts. When we were in England more people seemed to be still wearing masks than not.
I wear mine, other people have their reasons I suppose.

Palomabalom · 11/08/2021 21:26

It’s definitely on the wane for sure.
