Zoe antibody test...a week for results

Bells3032 · 10/08/2021 09:40

I did the Zoe test last week. put it in the post for the last post last tues but haven't had the results as yet. I've heard most people getting them back in a couple of days.

Has anyone else had the results take this long?

Yeah, mine took about that

lurker101 · 10/08/2021 09:42

Was the test difficult? I’ve got one to do and I’m being stupidly squeamish about it. I will do it, I’m just a bit nervous 😬

Bells3032 · 10/08/2021 09:44

@lurker101 I'd done similar tests before and found them terrifying and DH had to prick my finger for me but after three rounds of IVF i've gotten very used to needles (not that you ever see the needle).

I'd recommend getting someone to help you with it though as it can get very messy. Also ignore where it says to prick the pad of your finger and prick the side of your little finger as you'll get a lot more blood that way and it won't hurt when typing afterwards etc.

@Aposterhasnoname thanks. I'll keep waiting i guess

The secret is to get your hand really warm, put it in water as hot as you can stand for a few minutes before pricking your finger.
CyberPixie · 10/08/2021 09:54

I posted mine last Wed and still haven't had results either.

DaisyDozyDee · 10/08/2021 09:57

Mine took a full week to get the results.

lurker101 · 10/08/2021 09:58

Fantastic thanks everyone! I’ll get some help and make sure my hands are warm!

waltzingparrot · 10/08/2021 09:59

I second getting hand really warm first. Blood flowed really easily. I found it easy to do on my own, just watch the video and line everything up in the order you need it. I forgot to put the label on the collection pot before sealing it in the envelope, so had to order new test and do the whole thing again 2 days later.

The result only tells you if you've had Covid in the last six months (it probably says this in the small print which I didn't read). I thought it was going to confirm that I'd had it in march 2020, when I suspected I did.

waltzingparrot · 10/08/2021 10:00

My result took 5 days - posted on a Monday.

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 10/08/2021 10:05

I did it on my own - no one here to help and it was fine. Found my blood got sticky really quickly so it didn't flow into the tube very well.

Can't help OP as my results came back next day.

FromTheAshes · 10/08/2021 10:30

This is a relief, I've just made a thread around the same thing! I posted mine last Wednesday morning and haven't heard anything. I had a sudden thought that maybe I was supposed to do a post-test registration like with the PCRs, but I'm sure that wasn't in the instructions.

DaisyDozyDee · 10/08/2021 11:07

I was disappointed by the 6 month thing too, @waltzingparrot. I was diagnosed with asthma last year and I’d have liked to know whether it was triggered by Covid.

Bells3032 · 10/08/2021 21:17

Mine just came back and it's negative

Wimowehwimowehwimowehwimoweh · 10/08/2021 21:19

Mine hasn’t come back at all. I just thought it was something that was going to take a while. I’ve just checked and I posted it 6th July!
Did you get results by letter, email or text?

Bells3032 · 10/08/2021 21:41

6th July is a long time ago. I think it got lost.

Got it by text and email

Wimowehwimowehwimowehwimoweh · 10/08/2021 21:57

Sad I’d managed to get loads of blood in the tube too!

Tickly · 10/08/2021 21:59

I emailed and asked and they said they were a bit back logged and maybe 10 days would be normal.

Sirzy · 10/08/2021 22:01

I posted mine last Thursday and other than a reminder to do it haven’t heard anything

Wimowehwimowehwimowehwimoweh · 11/08/2021 08:20

@Tickly where did you email? Zoe invited me to order the test but the test came from gov.U.K.
I’m wondering if I can contact someone to chase it up.

Tickly · 11/08/2021 09:19

@Wimowehwimowehwimowehwimoweh actually I think my antibody test is the UCL virus watch study. If that's the same for you it's [email protected]

Wimowehwimowehwimowehwimoweh · 11/08/2021 12:30

Mines is different Tickly, thanks anyway.

RunAwayNow · 11/08/2021 21:10

I've been waiting for weeks. Pretty sure it's not coming!

Wimowehwimowehwimowehwimow · 27/08/2021 19:31

Interestingly the email I got today from the Zoe app that invited me to take an antibody test had this

Many of you have ordered tests, but not so many have sent them back. If you've received a test but haven't used it yet, please do, because we'd really like to know your results

I’m betting there have been more sent back than they realise, they just haven’t bee processed!

Was yours an invitation through the Zoe app? @RunAwayNow

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2021 06:55

How do you order a Zoe antibody test? I signed up on gov.uk but it just says I am registered. Is there a direct way via Zoe?

I have just had covid (in fact still suffering after 3 1/2 weeks) and would like to be reassured that I have built up some antibodies that might protect me more than the double vaccination on its own did.

RocioMartinez · 28/08/2021 16:50

Antibody tests take longer to come back than the tests to see if you have Covid. I've been getting antibody tests monthly and didn't register positive for antibodies until two months after my second jab - so those of you expecting to see antibodies within a couple of weeks may be disappointed. It would be worth waiting a few more weeks and then doing another one.
