First / second / Christmas lockdown were announced.

I feel like they must be "I remember where I was" moments, like Chamberlain declaring war or 9/11.

For Lockdown 1, I had collected DC from last day of school and we were in the park with a load of other kids and parents doing the same. Watched it on someone's phone and the signal was crap.

DH was at the pub!

Although I think that was not actually full lockdown announcement, IIRC that came the Monday after?

Lockdown 2 I actually can't remember - but I know DC were at a Halloween trick or treat thingy and I remember the announcement was sooo delayed that we were on the way back by the time it was confirmed. So probably actually missed the announcement.

Christmas lockdown - urgh, shopping at Oxford Street having intended to do it all last minute! Ended up having to do a massive dash round and it started absolutely lashing rain.

Unfortunately makes us sound quite frivolous as a family!!

The Christmas one was about 4pm on the Saturday. I'd been pottering about not long out of a bath. I threw my clothes on and ran to a nearby shop to get a friend a Christmas present but the shop had already closed but as I didn't see her until Easter it didn't really matter. (DH had been more organised a bought me a voucher from the same shop that didn't get used until May!).

I was at home hoping for the announcements to happen as our family was on “restricted mode” already. The most memorable was the school one. I decided to pull DD out of school by the end of the week anyway. I was so relieved when the announcement came. DH and I were both at home already.
DD has additional needs so my thoughts were the same as
@Caramellatteplease’s . I was thinking about the guidance and that she wouldn’t get help. She’s vaccinated now but tbh the fear is still there.

@Caramellatteplease
I hope your DC is vaccinated by now.

  1. In the office and I remember being told we would only be allowed in for a few hours the next day to collect what we needed
2 and 3. No idea

About 2 months before the first lockdown my husband went to Costco and bought some basic tinned goods in quantities that we wouldn't normally purchase. No one was panic buying at this point and I genuinely thought he had lost the plot thinking it would ever be an issue over here! As did our whole family. Sadly he was right.
