I'm booked for vaccine on Weds but I'm so scared!

I'm late 30s, haven't had a jab yet, I know, I know I should have. My family are all anti vax, they regularly send me videos and other shit which I don't even open now. I suffer from health anxiety and panic attacks so I've personally been very wary of getting the jab because I'm worried about long term effects of a new vaccine. Anyway I've now decided that the risk of covid is greater than the jab and that I should get it. I'm just really frightened about all the things they keep telling me about blood clots, stroke, dying! Unfortunately I'm not working, not really many friends so the only side I'm hearing is an antivax one. Just looking for reassurance really or from anyone with long term side effects from jab

@Blissbiz

Well I got my first dose this afternoon!! Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to get it and the tip to not get in the side I sleep on! Feel ok so far, drinking lots of water, so fingers crossed should be fine.🤞
Well done. How is your arm?
Blissbiz · 10/08/2021 18:50

@EvilPea arm is OK so far, not sure how long after it usually starts to hurt.

Everyone is so different. My arm was heavy almost immediately and sore within 2 hours.

My dad had nothing though.

So you might get away with it!

@MrsSkylerWhite

Several prominent US anti-vaxxers have passed away from Covid in recent weeks. Sadly, it will probably take more of such deaths before the message finally begins to get through to people who have been frightened/brainwashed by the anti-vaccine message.

You’re doing the right thing OP.

Oh dear, culling if the anti vax leaders, 🤷‍♂️

@XenoBitch

It is pretty disgusting for your family to prey on your anxieties like that. Would you be so worried if your family had not been sending you videos etc? I hope your appointment goes ok. Treat yourself afterwards. This is a major thing for you, and you deserve something nice :)
I agree that it's sad but it's what anti vaxxers do, prey on anxiety by using lies and misinformation. Disgusting behaviour

My arm hurt within an hour of my first one and 30 minutes of my 2nd one.

How are you doing @Blissbiz?

Blissbiz · 12/08/2021 10:59

@AllforOnsies I'm good thanks! A slightly sore arm yesterday but fine today. Had a bit of a wobble this morning thinking maybe 1 jab is enough protection and I won't need the second to reduce my risk of any long term effects of the vaccine but my dh who is actually not getting it,told me to continue, get it and stop reading any further information about it!

Also terrified (breastfeeding) & I had my first dose this morning. Mainly so I can travel as I have family outside the country, but also after more information have ultimately decided the vaccine risk is less than the risk of getting covid. Felt faint immediately after but as my last thought before the jab was “well there’s no going back now” I’ve decided it was probably anxiety I was feeling. Posts like yours & most of the responses make me feel less alone, so thank you! Fingers crossed for no bad side effects

Blissbiz · 13/08/2021 10:03

@Ladyks3 how are you feeling today? Just a sore arm I hope!
