When we stop expecting more waves that will impact all our lives maybe?

Gingernaut · 07/08/2021 18:09

When they hit single figures?

Tealightsandd · 07/08/2021 18:10

When the pandemic is over.

Or if/when we become like North Korea.

Cornettoninja · 07/08/2021 18:11

When they stabilise for a significant period.

I'm pretty sure no one can do any other than take a wild guess Grin

How could we know?

QueefofSheena · 07/08/2021 18:13

Does it offend you in some way OP?

Hairbrush123 · 07/08/2021 18:13

Well it’s just that cases are sky high now and deaths aren’t correlating like they were in previous waves so I wonder what it’ll take for them to stop announcing daily cases

Absolutely not. It’s quite reassuring knowing the vaccines do work however I’ve heard some countries announcing they’ll focus on deaths and hospitalizations - not cases. I just wonder when will we be in a position to do so.

Still over a hundred deaths on the last 24 hours, don’t you think that’s newsworthy?

Hairbrush123 · 07/08/2021 18:18

I didn’t ask when will deaths stop being reported HmmConfused

not reporting doesnt mean it isnt happening.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 07/08/2021 18:24

When it’s over or in single figures. Without knowing cases people can’t make informed decisions re risk.

WITH Covid. Registered in the last 24 hours.
herecomesthsun · 07/08/2021 20:15

Do I know when that will be? Let me take a look in my crystal ball.

The CMO & the WHO seem to thinks it will take about 5 years for us to achieve a degree of stable control over the situation with covid.

So it could be then.

Or it could be when people get bored with reading about it.

Not just yet, it would seem.

duffeldaisy · 07/08/2021 20:25

Government has told us all to get on with things and to take responsibility for our own health (which is impossible without proper mitigations in place anyway). If they stop publishing cases then we do not have the information to make informed choices.

We need to have case numbers as well as hospitalisations and deaths, otherwise how can we tell how whatever strain of the virus is spreading, how fast, etc. Hospitalisation figures are always a couple of weeks behind case figures, and deaths another few weeks on top.
If we only have hospitalisations (which we can predict from case numbers) then we're always weeks behind in the figures and so can't make good choices.

ToomuchHeat · 07/08/2021 20:26

For the first time I'm not sure how many deaths or cases.. it's better for my anxiety

not sure the op deserves bait-y responses. seems a simple enough query to ponder over.

When people stop clicking on their reports…

PinkDaffodil2 · 07/08/2021 21:34

I guess when it settles down to a steady rate - people are watching the numbers now to see if they’re going up or down which has implications for all sorts.
