Just spent quite a long time filling it in only to find out that my airline will not allow me to check in until tomorrow unless I pay more to choose my seat.

At the end of the plf it says you have to specify the seat number if relevant and that if you get it after submitting your plf you have to START ALL OVER AGAIN, not edit it, but start again.

Do I really have to? (I know I sound like a whiny child, but the thought of starting this all over again tomorrow night is awful).

@Watapalava

If travelling alone why book away at all? Surely it makes so difference where you sit? Not enough to pay aurely
I won't book a seat, but Ryan Air will allocate me one so there will still be a seat on my boarding pass.

Just did mine. It was only on my phone that wizz air let me get free random seat, not on my iPad. Have so many forms, booked test, neg test, PLF, sort of boarding card that is not one. Am sure something will go wrong!

Ah I see

Like I say tho it actually says online that you don’t have to complete it

On tui site itself it advices you to leave it blank so it won’t be an issue

MajesticWhine · 08/08/2021 14:12

Hi @Gwenhwyfar - just to confirm we have got through with no problems. No seat numbers on our PLFs.

EasterIssland · 08/08/2021 14:31

i flew on thursday, i left the seat empty because my airline needed the form for providing me the seat. i didn't start any new form at all.

home now waiting for pcr results and hoping i don't get any call from any other positives on the plane

The sympathy I would have had ended when you said you were flying with Ryanair. Of course they were going to charge extra.

Late to the part, but the solution is to do the PLF after you choose your seat. OR you save what you have so far and complete it after you get your seat number. I personally always fill it in (unless it’s not actually possible - eg the earlier TUI example), because you don’t want to be asked to isolate because someone on row 26 tested positive but you were in seat 05B, except they didn’t know that so asked you just in case. Rarely do they go through the trouble of contacting the airline as well, if they already have PLFs.

It’s an extra step but one that could avoid extra hassle later on.

Gwenhwyfar · 08/08/2021 18:42

Thanks Eileen. That will be helpful if there is a next time, but not now unfortunately, unless I decide to go through the hassle of doing it again.

Is that really how it works for isolation rules?
