Has anyone got an antibody test on the nhs?

Just that really. Has anyone applied for an antibody test to see if you've previously had Covid via the nhs gov website?

Yes I applied last week and it’s sitting here in front of me!

fuckweasel · 03/08/2021 20:23

I've done them monthly since October as part of a study of education workers. It's done via the NHS. Not sure you can just ask for one?

NiceTwin · 03/08/2021 20:24

I did one as part of a research study.

GiantToadstool · 03/08/2021 20:25

Join zoe and you may be offered one!

Noshowwithoutpunch · 03/08/2021 20:26

I've asked twice. Once about 3 month ago and once a fortnight ago.
I've heard nothing and received nothing.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/08/2021 20:26

Yes, through Zoe. Applied and got one the next day, results in 4 days. Pretty impressive. I was negative.

mrssunshinexxx · 03/08/2021 20:27

@LifesTooShortYOLO waiting to recieve mine now. You can apply online

HmmmmmmInteresting · 03/08/2021 20:28

You can get one if you work in social care

LifesTooShortYOLO · 03/08/2021 20:36

I have the Zoe App how would I apply for an antigen test?

www.gov.uk/register-coronavirus-antibody-test
This is the link - the Zoe app just took me there.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/08/2021 20:39

It'll ask you if you are part of a trial and tick the Zoe option.

WeatheringStorms22 · 03/08/2021 20:39

Yes, I did one last week after reading about the Zoe app.

Sunday - Downloaded and signed up to Zoe. Went on the Gov site and applied for an invite for an antibody test.
Monday - had a text saying I was now invited to apply. Ordered one on the Gov site.
Thursday - received the test in the post. Did it and posted it same day.
Monday - had an email with my results.

Couldn't believe how quick it was tbh. And I had no antibodies which I was actually surprised at.

Tip if you do one though...be careful you don't follow the instructions 'too' well and have a towel or tissues handy.

I did the hand in hot water for 2 minutes and 2 minutes of star jumps as I didn't want to risk not being able to fill up the tube from 'only' a finger prick. Plus I was very hydrated.

I really shouldn't have worried, I could have filled the damn thing twenty times over. The tube was full in two seconds flat and I kept going. Was totally unprepared for such a deluge. I'd forgotten to get tissue handy so ran from my dining table to the bathroom with blood running down my hand and arm to the elbow, mess everywhere. If I'd have done any better at it I'd have bled out on the floor 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

TwoBlueFish · 03/08/2021 20:43

Yes, I got an invitation via the Zoe app. It showed I have antibodies (never tested positive but I was pretty sure I had it right at the start).

LifesTooShortYOLO · 03/08/2021 20:44

I've just registered via the link and ticked Zoe Covid app thank you 😊
But the bit where it asks if I'm in work I ticked no as I'm not so I'm hoping I still get accepted as I ticked the Zoe study bit

Yes, no anti bodies from
Being previously infected.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 03/08/2021 21:04

Yes but I'm part of the NHS I'm not sure anyone is eligible to apply for one, although it never asked for any payroll/work email address though so anyone could click they work for NHS or care setting and easily obtain one. Test came a couple of days later, I needed to prick 3 fingers to get enough blood as it kept missing the capsule looked like there had been a murder after I'd finished 😆 posted back same night results came about 72 hrs later negative of antibodies

Witsended · 04/08/2021 02:33

@WeatheringStorms22 I followed the instructions too well Grin

Blood everywhere!

MrsFezziwig · 04/08/2021 03:24

I’m currently doing monthly ones as part of a research study. After doing the first one the kitchen looked like the setting for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but I’ve honed my technique considerably since then Grin

QueenStromba · 04/08/2021 07:43

Is there a time limit to return the test once you've received it? I need fairly frequent blood tests so was thinking of ordering one and asking the nurse to fill it the next time I'm having a blood test anyway.

Watsername · 04/08/2021 18:43

I was sent my antibody test a few weeks ago when it was very hot (too hot to post back as it needs to be under 25 degrees).....only sent it back yesterday as was on hols last week. Amazingly, I posted it at 5pm yesterday and got the results at 3:30 today. Negative to recent infection.
