Can I go to Norway on holiday?

I know, I need to google it. I have done so and am just getting incredibly confused. I need someone to spell it out for me if there is someone here who understands the restrictions because my brain shuts down every time I try to work this out.

Official advice seems to say you have to quarantine for 10 days there if you go on holiday from the UK (which would mean I just can't go) but if you are fully vaccinated you don't have to do that. Except they only seem to be accepting proof of vaccinations from EU countries, so my 2 jabs don't officially count? I am really keen to get out there this year if I can. I appreciate I might just have to accept I can't but I just don't know if I'm reading the website wrong. There is also something about how you can test your way out of quarantine on day 3 of the trip and if so I would consider risking flying out because I'm working from home still and not coming into contact with many people. I'd happily wear a mask and a visor on the plane and in the airport to keep my risk of catching it low.

Not just now, no. UK is ‘dark red’ this means you cannot enter as a tourist, regardless of quarantine or vaccination status.

Norway will still be there to visit after this pandemic settles down!

According to the FCDO website, it seems that people from the U.K. actually can't go to Norway in general, unless they fit into an exemption category. This is since 1 Jan 2021: www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/norway/entry-requirements

I don't think Norway are worrying about you catching it...more you bringing it in.

Thank you, that is helpful to hear. It's disappointing but I'll just have to wait to go next year. I was finding it so confusing so I appreciate people explaining it

Yup, you can't currently go from the UK unless for a proven emergency etc. We've booked to go there in three weeks, and it's only possible without quarantine because we all have EU vaccine passports. Even so, we know there's a risk our country will slip into a higher risk category at short notice so we're trying to book accommodation etc with free cancellation. I'm sure next year things will have normalised, but it's still a pity for you.
