Anyone flew back to UK with 3 days old LFT?

We are flying back to the UK next week and I need to arrange to have a fit to fly test. According to government website they accept a LFT done up to 3 days before the flight. Anyone did that and was allowed to fly with no issues? We are flying with Ryanair. I am asking because LFTs are much cheaper than PCR but other countries only accept LFTs done 48 or even 24h before flying. Thank you.

check the requirement of the airline. those are sometimes different than the ones for entry of the country.

The Ryanair website just directs to the UK government's website.

I did a LFT coming home from Tenerife. Used a company called Medicspot. Took kit with me. Did it on the Wednesday. Flew home to UK the Saturday. In hindsight I would have done it the Thursday as the 48/72 hr rule caused a lot of confusion.

Even though I stuck to the 3 day rule. The Spanish airport staff where very unsure. This was early July. Maybe the staff are better informed now.

Thanks. I may print the rules and take them with me just in case.

Lots of people did LFTs 72hrs from Portugal to England at half term because they were cheaper. We had already booked the dearer PCRs - they had no problems and we are doing LFTs 72hrs prior to leaving Balearics next week. Just check they meet the standards on govt website. Also ensure the results are in Spanish, English or French. Someone wasn’t allowed to board as they had theirs in Portuguese. Enjoy your holiday!

Thank you! We are flying from France.

2 of my friends separately have been to Majorca / Menorca this week and yes lateral flow done in the resort up to 72hrs before is fine

emlouwat · 01/08/2021 16:06

So you can do a LFT? it doesn't need to be a PCR? ( going to Majorca on 25th

Revengeofthepangolins · 01/08/2021 21:47

LFT to come home seems to be ok but Spain doesn’t accept them to get into Spain

emlouwat · 01/08/2021 21:57

I'm doubled vaccinated so don't think I need one to get in?

LJZRBB · 01/08/2021 22:24

I suggest you all do your own research.

NotDonna · 01/08/2021 22:40

@emlouwat you’re correct. To enter Spain PCRs are only required if you’re not 2 weeks post 2nd jab. If you’re not double jabbed then it needs to be PCRs (not LFTs) 72hrs prior, was 48 but that changed a couple of weeks ago. But double check before you go as they do change the rules.
@Nathalie1975 day 2 and 8 tests need to be PCRs not LFTs btw. Just keep checking the rules as with France being Amber+ there may be further additions/subtractions!

HairyFeline · 01/08/2021 22:47

@emlouwat double vaccinated need it, too. I’m flying to Portugal on Friday and spent hours researching what I had to do.
As well as PCR test 72 hours before flight arrival in Portugal I had to arrange a test (antigen ok from Portugal don’t know about France) to take before flight back and have to have results ready to show at airport. Also needed to have the 2-day-after-return-to-UK-test booked. The booking number for day-2 test goes on your passenger location form for U.K. arrival, which you’ll need to complete online before you travel back.
Bloomin’ nightmare of admin but can’t wait to see family after nearly 2 years.

Hohofortherobbers · 01/08/2021 22:51

Left balearics yesterday and did self test lft 3 days prior to leaving. Am double vaccinated. Perhaps different rules if not fully vaccinated? Gov website gave me all the information I needed and process was very simple.

NotDonna · 01/08/2021 23:30

@HairyFeline emlouwat is going to Mallorca though not Portugal. Each country has its own entry rules. I’m in Spain and the entry rules are that 2 weeks post double vaccinated don’t need PCR or LFT to enter at the moment.
OP is asking about entry INTO England from France, which at the moment is a negative LFT/PCR within 72hrs of arrival. Yes, op still needs to pre-book return PCRs for day 2 (and possibly day 8) and put the numbers on the English locator form and also complete the French locator form. There’s certainly a lot to double check.
All the info is on the govt website yes @LJZRBB but I can totally understand why posters check here as it’s a tadge confusing the first time, especially with locator forms each way and having to pre book tests etc.

LJZRBB · 02/08/2021 08:23

@NotDonna all I mean is do not rely on internet randoms interpreting the same information they could read.

I made the decision to travel. It was a minefield. But I did it. I did my research and it was worth it. If it is too much for someone to get there head around. I wouldn’t go. It is a huge commitment.

DS returned from Greece with a LFT done 72 hours previously. The test centre made him wait an extra 40 minutes because he was slightly out of the 72 hours even though gov.uk says 3 days.
