What are the rules on kids isolating now?

I am no longer clear on the rules at all!

Kids (5&8) went to science camp on Tuesday. Had an email from them this morning to say there had been a confirmed case, they were in Monday and Tuesday.

I have not heard anything from test and trace yet, will I?

I thought school bubbles no longer had to isolate, does this fall under that?

It's nothing to do with school bubbles if it was science camp. They will have their own rules I would think. Dont know if test and trace contact you too though

Isolating remains in place until mid August when the rules change, unless things say they can’t. If the club has emailed to say they are contacts then they should isolate.

PotteringAlong · 29/07/2021 08:55

They do have to isolate, track and trace should contact you if they class as a close contact. They don’t have to isolate legally until contacted by track and trace.

ColettesEarrings · 29/07/2021 08:57

Isolation rules don't change until Aug 16th. You may or may not get contacted by T&T, I guess it depends on whether they follow up the science club link from the patents of the initial child, and get all the details from them.

Better get cancelling 10 days of fun activities then 😭😭

If you are contacted by T and T then yes they have to isolate. But a notification that there was one positive case doesn't necessarily mean that - it depends who had close contact. Did the email not say what the next steps were? There was a case at an outdoor activity I do and the email said any close contacts would be notified by TnT but the rest of us should be aware/bit more careful etc.

The email isn't particularly clear, doesn't say if it is staff or child either.

Just says
'If you are contacted'

Sounds like staff are all isolating though.

I have cancelled my son's hospital appointment this afternoon. Think I will wait and see if I hear anything before canceling anything else. Can stay home today anyway. I imagine if we are contacted it will be today?!

T&T never contacted my friend despite her having worked with two positive cases and her details being passed on.

ColettesEarrings · 29/07/2021 11:33

It could take days, they're overloaded at the moment.

SaltySeaAir · 29/07/2021 12:55

Would you do the 'right thing' and isolate whilst waiting to hear? They already desperately need a walk 😣

The email doesn't tell me to isolate.

If the email doesn’t tell you to isolate and you’ve not been contacted by track and trace then I wouldn’t isolate. In 2 weeks this won’t even be a discussion.

HugeAckmansWife · 29/07/2021 13:40

I certainly would take them for outdoor things like walks regardless, unless they test + or display symptoms.

SaltySeaAir · 29/07/2021 13:49

Thank you, gone for a walk 🙂

My DC was in contact with 2 positive cases on Fri and we haven't heard from T and T. We are isolating though.
