Anyone here who tested positive after self isolating due to a contact?

I'm wondering if there's an 'average' for how far into the 10 days it takes to come down with it if you're going to... Also hoping that the closer it gets to day 10, the less likely DD is to actually get it! 😆
I know everyone is different, just wondered what people's experiences were, as I don't actually know anyone who has gone on to test positive after isolating due to a contact, so there is no-one I can ask!
Thanks 😁

The average incubation time is 4.4 days.

Oooh that's encouraging! We're on day 8 now, so I'm going to see that as positive! 😆

I tested positive on day 10, symptoms started probably about day 8.

Currently positive due to a contact, pinged on Monday. Symptoms started early hours of Tuesday morning. Had been in contact with person over weekend

@QueenStromba out of interest where did you find that info from?

Iknowtheanswer · 28/07/2021 17:14

Only my personal experience, but with Delta, everyone I know showed symptoms quite soon - 2 to 3 days.

I hit post and then thought "bigger, someone's going to ask me where I saw that".

I've read a lot of papers recently so have no idea which one I saw it in but a quick Google suggests that number has come from a Chinese CDC study.

DD was a close contact (fellow school pupil) on a Friday, tested positive Sunday, symptoms started Monday.

I then started symptoms Tuesday, confirmed by positive PCR later that week.

Thanks all- and for that link. Surprised that the original strain was only 5.2% in average too though!

Average is roughly 5 days, can be up to 10 days hence the 10 day isolation.

HarveySpectorWins · 28/07/2021 21:42

Mines was the original strain though last year, so I don't know how that would compare to the likes of delta Smile
Freaked me out at the time because people could obviously stop isolating after 10 days and it made me realise people could be going back out without realising they had it!

Porcupineintherough · 28/07/2021 21:53

8 days the first time, c 5 the second.

Porcupineintherough · 28/07/2021 21:53

Actually, I cant really be sure the first time so scrap that.
