Advice needed of another employee at work tests positive

The advice on ACAS regarding working when someone tests positive says other employees can carry on working. It’s says other employees can continue if they show no symptoms and have not been contacted through track and trace. Is it as straightforward as that ? The other employees would be LFT testing daily as well and wouldn’t work of showing symptoms.

My son had this problem, 3 times. The first time in October, they just sent everyone home, ordered them private PCR tests and expected them back to work if result was negative. My son just texted his Manager and said he was following government advice and self isolating for 10 days due to being a close contact. Most stayed at home, but a few still went in. The second time, they were doing weekly LFT’s but someone tested positive in January. They only sent home those who were within 2 metres, which my son was. The third time, they expected everyone in unless they were contacted by test and trace. My son ended up taking some holiday, as he wasn’t happy about going in.

@Mindymomo its a mine field, the advice now clearly states on acas sight only need to stay away if symptoms or called by track and trace - I can see both angles, I think if you're testing daily and showing no symptoms after a week its pretty safe.

Lets face it Boris would have been back at work sooner if he wasn't fully in the public eye!

The thing is every work place is different . In terms of social distancing etc.

I think common sense should prevail

If there has been social distancing and ventilation and a work colleague tests positive I think do regular LFT and pay careful attention to any sign of symptoms

If no social distancing , no ventilation , no regular covid cleaning perhaps a different course would be taken .
