Apologies if this is not the right place to be asking. My Sil tested positive for Covid yesterday, her BF and his son were staying with her this weekend so are now needing to isolate at her house. They have enough clothes, pjs etc to last the extended 'weekend' stay and the wee one has his PS and other bits at SIL's so all good on those fronts however I was looking to put together some things for the son to keep him amused for the isolation period. He is an absolute lovely lad, when i do see him (we see them quite often as are close with SIL) he happily goes along with what my kids want to play with whether that be barbies or sand pit so no idea what to actually get him. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Not wanting to send crazy money but not on a budget either. TIA

Do they have a garden? Those things you put round your waist then attach a football to so you can practice kicking a ball without anyone to pass to you?

Bryonyshcmyony · 26/07/2021 12:02

Football solo trainer, on Amazon about a tenner.

OliveTree75 · 26/07/2021 12:04

When we had covid, friends and family sent our two ds things like craft stuff, fortnite colouring books, some games like uno, bath bombs etc. They enjoyed just doing the drawing tutorial videos on youtube and playing on the ps etc though tbh. They also got a chocolate waffles delivery from a friend and a mcdonalds another day which i think they appreciated more 😂

Winemewhynot · 26/07/2021 12:04

Aw that’s a lovely idea. What about a game for his PS, magazines or books on any interests he has, any favourite crisps and drinks and of course sweets!

Bryonyshcmyony · 26/07/2021 12:07

Yes send a maccyds over!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/07/2021 12:27

Is there a Panini sticker book or trading cards he'd like? You could send packs of stickers/cards on a few days then as an ongoing thing.

Big Olympic wall chart to fill in? Bat and balls for the garden?

PeonyTime · 26/07/2021 12:38

10 and 12 yr olds here, who have just done 10 days isolation (12 yr old had covid).
Animal sticker book air drying clay box sets of books, football in the garden, and excessive amounts of screen time got us through.
Snacks were well received (boiled sweets good if you get the covid sore throat). What about boxes of cake mix (plus whatever other ingredients you need -oil and eggs usually, I think).

Kinetic sand.

Lots of good ideas here, he is a fan of chicken dish out of one of the local takeaways here so I will order that for him one or two days. DH is an avid baker (son usually has requests) so he is currently baking a lot of goodies including a lot of son's favourites for the 3 of them (and some for us too). He is more of a rugby fan than football fan but I'll go have a google and see what I can find for the garden. We actually only met him just over a year ago so although we see him a lot im not too sure on what he reads, if he colours in and such. Thank you for all of these x

Lego?
Esp anything with wheels, then the possibilities are endless.

TheAgeOfAquarius · 26/07/2021 13:31

Oh PeonyTime ive just seen your reply, baking ingredients is a great shout. I'll have DH write out a recipe or two and get the ingredients together for them. If son is enjoying it we can drop off some more.

Haribos. If he's a rugby fan something Lions related.

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 26/07/2021 14:06

He’ll probably spend most time on his PS. 😬 Lots of snacks, sweets, pringles. Maybe a board game. PS gift card.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 26/07/2021 18:51

Does he have a console he can play on? ( I'm not suggesting you buy him one BTW)

Wellbythebloodyhell · 26/07/2021 18:56

Sorry just seen he has his PS. Buy him a PS gift voucher he can buy fifa points or v bucks or whatever he enjoys playing. Honestly if he has his console he'll be fine my 11yo would happily spend 10 days solid on his. Sweets and treats and a McDonald's delivery or cake/ice cream delivery.

MarcelineMissouri · 26/07/2021 19:03

Surely they’re allowed to go back to their home?

BlueLobelia · 26/07/2021 19:07

Does he like roblox? You can get little roblox toys from toy sections of supoermarkets for about £4. The toys can be put together like lego and they come with little tokens that they can use in their games to change their avatars. Mine both love this.

BlueLobelia · 26/07/2021 19:08

Oh- and also dvds? Mine have gone slightly crazy for Godzilla and Spiderman

What a kind thought. You could send a couple of books? My rugby mad 10yo ds enjoyed these two (both fiction):

Scrum by Tom Palmer
Kick off by James Hook

Gonewiththegin · 26/07/2021 21:37

Lovely idea OP! As PP said a voucher for the PS even £10 would get him credits for whatever game he plays. Then you could get a magazine/book, one of those pop it fidget toys and some treats.

waitingvpatiently · 26/07/2021 21:50

How about a magazine/ comic book and an older puzzle book like with word searches/ craft ideas.

Agree sweets/ popcorn/ snacks def McDonald's!

Would he like a set that's clay moulding/ candle or magnet making etc? Argos do goo ones- thinking it would keep him busy a while!

He sounds lovely and so do you.

Dancingsmile · 26/07/2021 22:48

Comics, does he like marvel ?
Coloured modelling clay.
Airfix modelling kit.
