Anyone fancy a quick self isolating pity party?

So, we arrived on our UK holiday yesterday (staying in a family member’s holiday home a couple of hours away from our home). Me, DH and our DC. Haven’t had a proper break since Christmas 2019. I’m a public sector worker who hasn’t been working from home through the pandemic. I’m mentally and physically exhausted and just couldn’t wait to swim in the sea, go for country walks, have a few nice meals out and meet with some friends who live in the area. Carefree, sociable, summer fun!

I felt like I had a temperature/felt unwell last night, so took a LFT. Positive for covid. Rest of the family tested although no symptoms - DC all positive (DH so far not). Our holiday is for 10 days. We will need to self isolate for 10 days. I’m then supposed to be going back to work after we arrive home.

I just need to have a small pity party for myself and my family. We managed to get through 18 months of me in a public facing role and the kids in secondary school ie. covid soup…without getting covid…me & DH both double jabbed…and wouldn’t you know it, positive tests on the first day of our holiday!

Feel free to join if you have covid related woes that aren’t life threatening but are just a little bit shit…

I'll join!
Currently on day 18 of isolation, we officially finish on Tuesday! DH brought it home first, ended up in hospital just over a week later, and got a positive test for DS the next day. So isolation period started again from his symptoms. Day before DH came home from hospital, DD and I sent off postal tests after having symptoms for a few days, they came back as positive yesterday. So our isolation started again on the day that our symptoms started. DH had to restart isolation due to being on a COVID ward in hospital (coincidentally gets him out on the same day as DD and I!). DS is the only one who can leave the house tomorrow and he is only 11 😆
I am feeling fortunate that this won't affect any holidays or other summer plans, but DS missed all of his year 6 leavers activities and I missed out on the last couple of weeks at work (early years assistant) with the kids who are leaving nursery to start school 😔

Joining in - kids at their dads for the weekend and we had one precious night booked away by the coast .. we were so looking forward to it as I have long covid and we’ve been also working all hours to set a new business up .. partner tested positive on a lateral flow this morning- gutted 😩

Joining - DH, dd2, ds and me all have Covid. Dd1 has just taken a PCR test.

Yep stuck in isolation for my birthday we’ve all slowly got it one by one by the time I get out I will have been in over 20 days .

@OrangeBananaFish

Oh no, how horrible for you. To get away yet have to isolate the whole time. Agree about getting PCR tests.

I tested positive on Monday and DS on Tuesday (he took a test after I was positive with the rest of the family). DH and 2DDs were negative. Yesterday they were still negative. Today DD1 started a headache so had another LFT and is now positive. DH and DD2 still neg. So now all our 10 days starts again I think. Then of course there is still DH and DD1 to get it at some point when the 10 days will start again.

This week has been OK as I have been working from home so have had something to do. But now it is the weekend and parkrun is back tomorrow. I have missed parkrun so much and now I can't go (obviously)

Hope you manage not to get through these days OK.

You don't need to restart your isolation. Only the positive case needs to begin again.
