For those of you living in the Midlands / Birmingham area, what are cases like at the moment?

OP posts:

High, very high. 562 per 100,000 people last I checked. I'm avoiding the city centre completely for a while.

Whinge · 22/07/2021 07:14

Not sure about Birmingham, but my friends in Nottingham say cases are high and on the rise, especially in schools.

Put a postcode into the Corona dashboard.

They are high. I live south Birmingham.
I use this interactive map.

I know many people who have tested positive this week.

I'm in Derbyshire. Rates here are 628 per 100k, we have the highest in the county.

Oddly though DS's school has been fine, only one bubble closure since April.

Silverparting · 22/07/2021 08:15

I'm in Birmingham. I know so many people with Covid right now as I work in education and have two kids who know lots of friends with it. The QE hospital cancelled some operations.

Silverparting · 22/07/2021 08:18

Just to add my husband works right in the city centre, in a massive office block with 500 people over split floors sharing the lift. They were due back Monday, but think bosses have done a U turn

Vanillaradio · 22/07/2021 09:46

My particular part of Birmingham is higher than its ever been. If you break down the figures by age it is almost entirely cases in under 19s and coming from massive outbreaks in secondary schools. I know loads of kids at ds's school with older siblings testing postive- know no adults who currently or recently had it whereas in our last 2 bad patches (October and January) I knew loads.

I'm in Leicester and amazingly, for the first time since the pandemic began I can say we're well below average.

@Waxonwaxoff0 you're lucky. Our secondary is NE Derbyshire and has gone back online for the last week as so many pupils and teachers self isolating. Sad

BarefootHippieChick · 22/07/2021 11:19

East Staffordshire here. Cases very high. Dd currently isolating because her best friend and mum are both currently poorly with it.

OneinNine · 22/07/2021 13:16

High but mainly in children! 60% of cases i think last week.

Genehuntsfanclub · 22/07/2021 17:10

Mid Staffs is 445 per 100,000
