Outdoor contact with child who has tested positive...

This morning heard from my friend that her son has tested positive. He was in our garden yesterday, but no physical contact and at least a metre away from both of us at all times. Do we need to self-isolate? Am going to get a test regardless because my Dad's in a care home but the gov.uk website doesn't really assist me...

No, you don't have to isolate. A metre+ outside does not count as a contact.

They will no doubt make their own minds up, you will have to isolate if they tell you to.
