Bubble popped BUT from midnight they don't exist! Confused

I have just had a text from my youngest DD nursery saying she has to isolate as she has been in contact with a positive case (yes at nearly 11pm). In 1 hour class bubbles are ending!
I wouldn't normally question such a request BUT dinnertime Wednesday I had a phone call to collect her as she needed to isolate then 6am Thursday morning I had a message from nursery saying she no longer needed to isolate.

I guess I'm just venting my frustration at yet another day of struggling to wfh when I shouldn't be at home.

Self-isolation rules don’t change until 16 august

AnotherNewt · 18/07/2021 23:08

Bubbles are ending, but closest contacts can still be required to isolate. This continues until mid-August.

Fullofpudding · 18/07/2021 23:13

Things don't change until about the 18th August I'm afraid..

thanksamillion · 18/07/2021 23:13

The problem is that the contact was before the rule change tomorrow so the nursery will have had to do the contact tracing. Believe me the nursey management wil not have wanted to spend their Sunday sorting this out! It also isn't really clear in the guidance what kind of contact test and trace will count as close. The DfE have indicated that it will only be something like a sleepover for school age children but haven't really said anything about early years.

Timeforredwine · 18/07/2021 23:15

No change to isolation rules until 16th August.

thanksamillion · 18/07/2021 23:17

For those saying the rules don't change tomorrow, in a way that's true but Test and Trace take over from schools/settings tomorrow for contact tracing and have indicated that their criteria will be much less tight. It's also almost impossible to see how this will work for early years settings (how will a 3 year old know who they've been in contact with?) So in effect bubble/setting isolation ends from tomorrow.

AddsVsGeorgs · 18/07/2021 23:18

You have got your dates / rules mixed up!

Macaroni46 · 18/07/2021 23:22

Another thing to bear in mind is that a lot of local authorities are keeping bubbles in place despite the changes from tomorrow.

She hasn't. From midnight tonight contact tracing will be managed by test and trace - schools/nurseries etc will no longer have the power.
AddsVsGeorgs · 18/07/2021 23:24

@iloveredpandas

The child has already been told to isolate

Its simple really

iloveredpandas · 18/07/2021 23:25

That's just pretty bad luck OP don't think think will be anything you can do

Glitterblue · 19/07/2021 01:19

We had an email on Sunday morning saying DD has to self isolate. It said it'll still stand, despite any rules changing on Monday. Annoyingly, more than half the parents on the WhatsApp group are saying they're not going to bother.

OliveTree75 · 19/07/2021 06:22

It has happened to y5 in my school too. The council has asked our LA to continue as we have been though for the last week

pinkflask · 19/07/2021 06:23

Same thing here - email at 9pm last night. It’s put a bulldozer through a lot of quite important plans. I could cry.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/07/2021 06:50

I wouldn't bother doing it.

whatswithtodaytoday · 19/07/2021 06:54

Presumably nurseries will give test and trace all the close contact names though? So although we won't get that dreaded email from the nursery, we'll get a phonecall from test and trace if our children are in the same room as a positive case?

I think Test and Trace has indicated that they’ll only ask settings to assist with contact identification in the event of a large outbreak.
whatswithtodaytoday · 19/07/2021 07:04

@TuckMyWin Oh Christ. Hopefully ours will be sensible then and let us know anyway, they're been brilliant so far.

pinkflask · 19/07/2021 07:13

You can hardly ignore it if it means DC can’t go to school/nursery…

queenrollo · 19/07/2021 07:18

We are waiting on a PCR result for my DS. We informed school that he had a positive lateral flow and they sent out the usual email to say 'please isolate your children' and then 20 mins later another to say that Test and Trace told them the isolation is no longer required. They have recorded this conversation to cover their arses and seeking further clarification.

Once again, piss up in a brewery comes to mind.

Uramaki · 19/07/2021 07:18

Just do what they say. They're in a vulnerable position.

queenrollo · 19/07/2021 07:19

I should probably clarify....our school broke up for summer on Friday.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/07/2021 07:30

Course, but I wouldn't stay in the house.
Karwomannghia · 19/07/2021 07:57

Dd 14 has symptoms and a positive lateral flow on Saturday. Went for pcr yesterday but no results yet. I’ve told the school this morning. I hope that was the right order! She’s told her friends she was with Friday and Saturday already too.
